My sister was born on Dec 21st, the Winter Solstice. Or as I tell her, "the darkest day of the year".

My sister was born on Christmas Day, she gets the infamous "joint" present, aka 1 present that covers 2 occasions! My parents however always did a wonderful job of making it special for her too.

My birthday is on June 21st. It also happens to be longest day of the year making it great for outdoor b day celebrations.

In retrospect, I wish I'd married a girl who was either born on Christmas or Valentine's day. Or I should have at least gotten married on one of those days or her birthday.

Just turned the big 3-0 on October 7th, usually my birthday celebrations fall around thanksgiving so partys always consisted of family and turkey dinner. I've grown accustomed to do shiat all for my birthdays.
Strangest thing though, as soon as I left my 20's I noticed my belly has gotten bigger and my hair seems to be migrating from my head. Damn you cruel cruel world!

I celebrated my nephew's 14th birthday yesterday. It's weird to see him excited about getting his learner's license and his father wanting to put his foot down with an "absolutely not" stance. That makes me feel time is flying by.
One of my nephew's friends was talking about how birthday's don't really matter much, with the exception of your 18th birthday. It's the only one that really changes your life.
Philosophical bunch of kids!
I have a milestone birthday coming up. I'll hopefully spend it celebrating a Flames win, making Sample00 happier yet again, and happy myself with the knowledge someone I know gets to go back to work after a battle with that pig thing.

50 was the worst birthday. I have never been old in mind (big kid at heart - glass half full sort of girl) but, 50! Jeez, it just made me feel like I was really getting old. Hated it. What is even worse is when people don't say, ' Really, you can't be 50' or 51 or 52 or something like that. They just nod.

I'm 27. I'm not really looking forward to 28, but I am however already telling all my friends that we need to go to Vegas and celebrate all our 30th's in 2012. That'll be fun.

Ohhh birthdays. I will be 34 on New Years Day. NYD used to be an awesome birthday. back when it was fun to go to the bar on new years etc..everyone is always partying on my birthday. Now since i've out grown the bar phase it's way more fun to wait til the last minute to make plans because i know that even if i don't feel like going out, there will always be at least 4 or 5 people that will want to come over and turn the new years hockey game into a drinking game.
So while having a birthday on new years used to be the best thing ever, now it's kind of annoying especially since my parents always insist we come over for dinner on NYD when they clearly know we're HUNG OVER!!!! But hey, at least i don't have to worry about plans, there's always a bunch of parties etc..to go to hosted by various friends if i want.
Also, for a best brother plug, i'm trying to think of a new years we didn't party together.

I don't care much for birthdays but they don't bother me either. Although, sometimes I am surprised by my age, as if I didn't know I was getting older each year. I got a ticket a few weeks back and thought the cop made a mistake when putting my age on the ticket! Then I realized that just because I hadn't celebrated birthdays doesn't mean I didn't have them. Whoops!
I get carded everywhere I go and I know I don't look 21. It would be more flattering if I thought they didn't card everyone who wants a drink.
