Calgary Service Industry Rant

I've noticed a bit of an improvement over the last 6-12 months when compared to the previous 3-4 years before that. I dunno, I keep my service expectations extraordinarily low. That way when they're surpassed, I appreciate the relative competence.

I really think alot of it has to do with the fact that most servers don't care about their job. Service down here is great in comparison to calgary, and that's because people are just happy to have the job!

Totally agree with you. I was in Phoenix last Christmas and I have to say, out of all the American cities I've been to, Phoenix has to have the most friendliest people and awesome customer service I've seen. Maybe it has to do with the great weather all the time but there just really easy going and down to earth people. I definitely would go back. If only Hockey would work down there...

Maybe the lowering quality of posting on this board brought up by some folk is just a reflection of the lowering quality of people in Calgary. Really, since the last boom and the city passing 1 million, it's like the nature of the city has taken a turn for the worse.
