Man they are good at this. I absolutely don't need a new computer but now I want to buy two.
Hook, line and sinker.

Those iMacs are beautiful (they already were). They definitely know how to design a nice product. If I didn't already have a macbook I'd consider one of those. Price isn't too bad either.

Wouldn't mind the magic mouse, killed my mighty mouse's scroll ball awhile ago, so i just bought a cheap logitech. I wish they had a wired magic mouse or have it rechargeable...

Blades suck anyways, really. There's a reason they've only captured middling market share

One thing I like about the mighty mouse is the deceptively high # of buttons on it. I like being able to launch expose, spaces and such from my mouse. They are preaching a lot about how customizable the magic mouse is, but I'd like to confirm it can do both those things before buying one.

None at market mall yet - I went to check even though the slightly clueless sounding girl on the phone said they didn't have any new mice. I just went ahead and ordered mine. I'm going to assume though that the side buttons are gone - there's a video on the Apple site and I don't think it makes any mention of them that I recall.
I'm just excited about the flick scrolling and the 360 degree scrolling without the ball in the mighty mouse gumming up. I too thought the mighty mouse was decent other than the gumming up, which drove me nuts.
The new glass trackpads are so good you really don't need a mouse, but I find its still nice to have one as a change every so often to help reduce the risk of RSI. Laptop/guitar/PS3/porn is putting a terrible workload on my wrists.

There are apps I believe that give more customizable features to the trackpad on the macbooks, so hopefully something similar will come out for the magic mouse (assuming it can't do it out of the box).

So how does this work?
They unveiled these new products yesterday -- when can we expect they'll actually be in a store in Calgary?
Are these things built and shipping, or is it a "look at the new Macbook, in stores 2011!" kind of a deal?
And will the "old" ones they still have in stock be drastically reduced?

They're already available. My brother just ordered one of the new iMacs online last night. He should have it next week.
As for current inventory at the Apple Store in Market Mall, I'm not sure. When the new MacBook Pros came out, they had them the same day.

Market Mall and all Apple Stores typically have the new products the same day/next day after they're announced

Thanks guys.
Does anyone know if the unsold old models will go on sale? Despite my initial "ooh, neato" reaction to the new models, there doesn't seem to be much different about between them and macbook I already have.
On the mac.ca website they are crowing about the new rounded corners. Mine has rounded corners. They make hay about how the new ones will not slide around on the table but mine has never slid around on the table, and I don't need the new "nonslip material" that they've coated the bottom with. The four little rubber nubs they put on mine work just fine.
They don't really say what "unibody design" actually is, but they are really pushing it. I know what unibody design should be, but if you go by the picture accompanying this product feature, it is not actually unibody design. It's at least two pieces. And I don't know why unibody design will help me anyway.
In fact, this new macbook doesn't look any different than the one I'm typing on right now (despite the claims about a keyboard my fingers will love).
Is it a much better computer? All that mumbo-jumbo about RAMs and gigs and ratios is Greek to me.
I'm hoping to buy last year's (month's?) high-end model for cheap. Does it work that way? Do they clear everything out hoping to sell the new ones to people that insist on stuff like slip-resistant coatings and the 1/8th of an inch slimmer the new one is?

Wow Apple does it again. I already have a wireless mighty mouse but I want the Magic Mouse. The flaw with the mighty mouse is the trackball, if you dont clean it regularly sometimes it just doesn't work, this mouse completely eliminates that problem.
I haven't looked too much into it but I use the side buttons on my current mighty mouse to open "Expose" but does that function get eliminated with this new mouse?

I've only read one impression, but it did menion that they saw no way to activate expose or spaces from the mouse. Might be a deal breaker for me.

On a MacBook, Expose = 4-finger swipe (down to show app windows, and up to show desktop).
I imagine the magic mouse would be the same, though I haven't read up on it at all.

Expose is a way to visually navigate amongst open applications and windows. There are lots of different methods and and resulting views.
Spaces is just a name for multiple desktops. I still haven't really got into that much. I probably should, but the light bulb just hasn't turned on for that feature yet. Russic or Scott can probably go into details much better than I can for this.
