The Thai food story reminded me of a time when I was eating at Teriyaki in Deerfoot Meadows (same as Edo basically). The guy in front of me ordered a Beef Yakisoba, and the guy working the till kept asking if he wanted "actra" beef on it. It was obvious to me that he was saying extra beef, but the dude ordering just wasn't getting it. He kept going "actual beef? yes please I would like actual beef." No. Actra beef, Actra! "Yes, actual beef please."

This dialog went on for about 4 minutes, while I tried my hardest to contain my laughter. I easily could have interjected and translated the cashiers broken engrish, but what fun would that be?

Fun times.

Oh lets clear things up. Food like this is not Chinese food. It is Gwai Lo food.

The original story reminds me of my brother ordering at the In'n'Out burger in Vegas:

"Do you have any salads?"

Dude behind the counter looks at him incredulously. "No sir, we don't have salads." I am laughing.

"How about bottled water? Can I get a bottled water?" Dude behind the counter isn't sure if we're just messing with him, "Uh, no bottled water either."

Which is where I chirp in with: "Do you see all those deep fryers and grills and milkshake machines and such? That's what they have - whatever isn't remotely healthy. Now order a damn burger."
