Made a lot of great movies and he fought valiantly to the end. He was a private kind of guy in his later years, didn't flaunt his condition for attention, too bad the media had to hound him so closely. Can't help but think that added stress didn't help things. I saw a special on him with Barbara Walters a while back, he knew that he didn't have long to live but looked her right in the eyes and said I'll be back next year.
Confidence was something he never lacked and he kept it right to the end despite his tough journey. I could never imagine how hard it is to deal with something like this, knowing the end is near and still soldiering through. He also did a great deal for furthering the research with his funding.
RIP Patrick, never forget The Outsiders!
