Any footbal player will tell you he really likes the game. And it's not as if playing in the CFL is going to be his career. The average person changes his career 2 or 3 times before he or she retires.

Playing Football is more imporant to these players then the money which makes it more genuine then the NFL.

Before salaries got out of control in the NHL players had to work in the off season to make ends meet. That didn't deter them from playing the game they love.

Yeah, right. If they really loved playing football so much then why don't they do it for free? It would be great, we wouldn't have to pay money for tickets.

Do you still believe in Santa Claus as well?

If they really loved it that much, they'd play for free. You wouldn't have guys like Derek Morris holding a gun to the Flames' head.

Incorrect use of the "s" there.

You're missing the point.

Phil Esposito worked in a steel mill in the offseason when he started playing in the NHL. Many other NHL players worked other jobs. That was the reality for NHL players back then.

Superbowl February 2009 ratings in Canada:

Canadian ratings for Sunday's Super Bowl on CTV plunged 14 per cent to an estimated average of 3.602 million, down from 4.2 million last year.
An additional 691,000 watched Sunday's game in French on RDS, down from 905,000 in '08.

Superbowl ratings in Canada: 3.602 + 691,000 in French = 4.293 MILLION

very nice that you added up the french and english numbers for the superbowl, but didn't add in the RDS numbers for the grey cup...in a year that the MONTREAL alouettes were in the grey cup. From the same article

French-language RDS, on the other hand, thrives when the Als are in the championship game. RDS drew 810,000 viewers on Sunday

why play for free when you can get paid? Derek Morris? really? to your Derek Morris i raise you Jarome Iginla.
some players want to play for a winner, play the game they love?
anyways both of these guys would still get paid to play the game they love, one chose to give a hometown discount, one chased money. what does this have to do with the CFL?
these guys love football, and stop thinking your points are well known facts. i doubt many CFL players who win a grey cup or are the MVP would rather be on a practice roster in the NFL, i guess we disagree on that.

anyone who plays a sport because they enjoy it, want to play on a winner. some guys do go for money, or for fame, absolutely, but some want to win. and you get paid well enough when you win in the CFL.

as for the ratings, the NFL does not crush the CFL on ratings, it is close, but the CFL wins more often in the regular season. the NFL is helped by the fact that it can be seen without cable (ctv), is more often shown in bars and there are more games on at any given time. this means it is on more so gets more ratings. also with the superbowl, many people have superbowl parties because its an excuse to party, in the CFL its more to actually watch the game.

and i would argue that most Canadian kids would rather play for the Stanley cup then either trophy, but many would love to play for the Grey CUp, its been around 2 or 3 times as long as the superbowl and actually looks like a good trophy (and hey, you can drink champagne out of it).

money isn't everything to everybody, but apparently it is to you.

i agree with most of the points of the posters on this thread. special one, you are special, everyone is special, not everyone is usefull...

and GO STAMPS GO

You said you can make that much at Home Depot.

If you are comparing what people make at different jobs I would think that fact that one person has to work twice as much to make the same money would be a major issue.

Sloppy start by Stamps. 2 and out the first possession then 2 and out again but this time the 2nd play on the 2nd possessions got picked up by the Eskimos. Burris is still trying to go deep early. He should warm up with short passes first.

Stamps just don't seem to have it this year. By the time they get their game together (if they do) it will probably be too late.

Come on Calgary prove me wrong.

Burris is just terrible when it comes to reading coverage. That ball would've been picked even if the receiver hadn't slipped.

Stamps defending on 2nd down conversions is just plain bad. And yep gotta score 6 when you get the chance. I don't get that play call at all, made no sense.
