He needs to be gender tested. No one should be able to defeat the best in the world by that much.

That's insane. Michael Johnson ran an impossible 19:32 in 1996 and it looked like his body would split apart.

This guy's not even trying!

I'd like to see this guy run the 400. Might as well own all the sprint records.

Total quantum leap in terms of sprinting.

The Bob Valvano show on ESPN radio had a guest last night that converted Bolt's 100m into yards and took the final 40 yard time.

He ran at a pace of 2.92 seconds in the 40! Of course he has a running start, but impressive nonetheless. Especially when you see that the was again letting up at the end.

Deion Sanders has the fastest NFL 40yr dash at 4.24.

Aren't those 40 times disputable anyway though? I've heard commentators during the olympics call them into question a lot as it implies that a lot of NFLers would be running sub-10 100m races, which is not even close.

40 yards is 36 meters. I don't doubt that a lot of these guys can get off quick and get that far. But pretty much all of them can't sustain that speed past 40 yards. Realistically in football, it's how quick a player can get those first 15 yards to gain the inital advantage, and for corner backs closing speed to make up that difference.

Just because a football guy can run 36 meters in 4.4 seconds doesn't mean he'd keep it up to run 100 in under 10. If football players had to run 60 meters those times probably increase a fair bit, and a lot of lineman probably get a DNF. And, yeah, it's likely a few of those times get exagerated too.

Bolt lost both the 100m and 200m Olympic trials in Jamaica this week to Yohan Blake. Blake is the current 100m world champion (although Bolt was DQ for a false start), and has run the fastest time this year 9.75sec, and 5th fastest time ever.

Makes things interesting for London.

Jamaica should destroy the field in the 4 x 100 with three of the fastest men in the world ever (Bolt, Asafa Powell and Blake)
