How can BestBuy get away with charging $35 for this upgrade when it is clearly marked as $29 on the Apple website?

I wonder if they price match?...it is eligible for free shipping from the Apple store.

It's $35 in Canada.

The simple AppleScript service plugins will let you do stuff like add a "Rotate 90 degrees" option to only graphics files (ie. only relevant services apply to relevant file types). Essentially its just simple scripts and macros like before, but smartly filtered and made available to you.

I didn't know anything about services until a few day ago - I am suprised they haven't gotten more attention, this is an impressive feature.
Wow that is pretty cool. I always have little "I wish it were possible to ..." moments and I'm pretty sure this feature could help with a lot of those.

For anybody interested in the Services feature there is a video on itunes that goes over it a little more thoroughly. Highly recommend if it interests you at all.

Some OpenCL benchmarks...

Quote:
The benchmark runs on each device showing the relative performance. Most interesting is that for owners of high end MacBook Pros which contain both 9400M and 9600M GT graphics cards, both GPUs can be used at any time by OpenCL. In contrast, both of these GPUs can not be used for general graphics processing and requires a Mac OS X logout to switch from one to another.

In this particular example, the benchmark performance of the user's MacBook Pro CPU and two discrete GPUs were as follows (smaller numbers faster):

GeForce 9600M GT: 2.805 seconds
GeForce 9400M: 3.081 seconds
Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.40GHz: 15.459 seconds

Yeah, I was wondering that same thing. The wording seems to imply simultaneous use, but also leaves the door open for one-at-a-time use.

Apparently, you can do a direct upgrade to Snow Leopard!

Yeah, this came out a couple days ago.

The $30 price point is meant for people who have already paid for Leopard. For those who haven't, Apple just trusts you to do the right thing.

You're right though. It works, and there's only a strongly-worded EULA to stand in your way.

Sorry for bumping this, but I just got snow leopard and was about to install it. Has anyone had any issues with upgrading to snow leopard? Any recommendations other than doing a backup. (I already did this).

My printer went kablooey. I guess that's what I get for buying a cheap printer, but c'mon! It's more Lexmark not releasing a driver for it, but it's still pretty annoying.

Isn't that what plagued Vista at first?

I've been mighty frustrated with how slow my computers have become since I upgraded. Safari sucks, Mail crashes, Mail caused a hard crash where I had to restart my computer, iTunes is slow.. not impressed so far.

I could be wrong, but I think a big chunk of the saved hard drive space was due to the fact that it doesn't include printer drivers anymore. I guess that's a trade off. Works great if you're printer is made by a half decent company I suppose.

I haven't actually noticed any of the instability that other people mention. Things sped up nicely on mine. Mail fails me all the time, but that's just F'n mail. I tried to use Safari a few months ago and it had several compatibility problems that killed the experience for me so I went crying back to firefox.

I dunno... I bought a Samsung monochrome laser printer for $60, brand new, at MemEx. Plugged it into my Time Capsule and Snow Leopard did everything else for me. I was printing within seconds.
