I'm a big fan of Vancouver-based blues guitarist Jim Byrnes. Also an actor, he played the role of Lifeguard on Wiseguy as well as Joe Dawson on the TV version of The Highlander.
Hey blues études, what do you all think of Joe Bonamassa? I've started listening to a bit of his stuff just recently, but I haven't have a ton of time to listen critically or read up on him, so I'm not sure where he fits in the blues world. Decent stuff? True to the spirit of the blues? Or second tier talent?
Edit: a quick perusal of Wikipedia suggests he is fairly well respected. Still interested in opinions from people on this thread though.
