I am 6'3 so the "beds" are uncomfortable, but I can manage. I almost missed the bloody train too, I got on and it literally pulled away 3 seconds after I stepped on, I was that close!

Trains through Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, Amsterdam, were nice though.
I had an experience similar to this as well, but, we all still had a blast. The first time i went to europe with my high school band () we took a ferry across the english channel from london to brussels and then took a train from brussels down to vienna and they crammed 6 of us in a room. The beds were brutally uncomfortable and close together.
Instead we found it way more fun to brush our teeth and spit out the window when the train was in motion. The hilarious thing about it was the next day getting off the train and seeing toothpaste strewn across the train and clearly leading into the next persons window...which was open...LOLOL!!!
Then the next time i went to europe we took a train from belfast to dublin. That was pretty cool seeing irelands country side.

I like trains they're fun if you're crossing a beautiful country.

Yeah, me too. When the scenery is nice, taking the train is pretty enjoyable. Otherwise it can be a bit boring.

The only bad experience I've had riding a train was when I had a really bad drug trip. Being confined in a packed train traveling like 200km an hour while tripping out like mad was NOT cool. I thought I was going to die. And everyone thought I was crazy.

Moral of the story: don't do drugs (while taking a train).

Nice, I thought of taking some of my stuff from Amsterdam to England with me before I go home, but shrugged it off since it was a plane ride.

Good thing I didn't because they held me at customs for about 45 minutes interrogating me on why I was coming into the UK and how I had so much money (saved for 3 years), then I told him I was the assistant manager at my pizza place and he thought I was lying to him. The guy was a dick, but it could have been a LOT worse if I smuggled "stuff". F*** London, I am going back to Amsterdam.

I traveled from Montreal to Ottawa by train and all I could see were corn fields.

I went from 100 mile house to Vancouver a few years back just for the experience of rideing a train. It was a nice little trip. The down side was the last couple hours were in the dark so I was hoping to see that view a week later on my return trip. Unfortunately there had been a rock slide so they put us in buses for the return trip.
