Calgary Aldermen Expense Claims Under Scrutiny

Personally, I look forward to the bridge! It will be awesome for the city! It's such a small drop in the bucket compared to the billions being spent on roads, and it will actually do something to improve calgary's image as more sophisticated and growing up city that shows it cares about quality and design.

As for the expenses, such a non story. Honestly, it's just a paper tying to get people riled up for readership.

I agree its petty stuff. Honestly it does not work me up - and I am no fan of city hall. This is all optics. As long as alderman give the impression they spend other people's money with total disregard, expect the little things to peeve people off. It's human nature.

BUT, when the alderman lose the tax free allowances, conference junkets, and pet projects, they can use the 'the private sector does it' excuse. The city is nowhere near a business. Alderman are naive not to expect this.
