With my second pick, I'll take a song that has one of the most haunting guitar pieces ever (at least as far as I'm concerned). Hurt - Johnny Cash

Tab

Chords only

'39 - Queen

This is a nice song on an acoustic guitar. Unusual (even for Queen) it sounds like a folk song, about travellers in the far future. First video and tab place capo on 1st fret. Brian uses a 12-string in the 2nd video below:

Babe I'm Gunna Leave You by Led Zeppelin

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/...ve_you_tab.htm

Except that the chords in that one sound off, so I play them like in this tab
(At "Leave you when the summer comes along")

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/...u_ver5_tab.htm

And I play the chorus as it's tabbed out in the first one....but I add a bass note to each chord.

Behind Blue Eyes - The Who

It's easy, but it's also fun to play and it sounds awesome.

I'm going to go off the grid a bit here, and pick another fun, unexpected campfire song....

The Cheers them song

http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/...e_ver2_tab.htm

There isn't a lot to it. It's fun to play the little intro riff, and then just play the chords for the rest of the song.

I can't really think of any complete song I know that there are tabs for or that would be decent to share but I'll come up for something for next time if there is another tab draft...or maybe I'll come up with something over the long weekend from what I know.

I was thinking - this would be cool if after doing this, people could record their results and put it on a private youtube channel or something so for once we could see and hear each other's results on the guitar.

But that's probably asking too much - how about this? A guitar tab draft where the picker records himself playing his pick first so you can hear it (instead of random youtube guys).

You know what would be awesome? If each week someone posted a chord progression, and then we each had to record 'lead' over the progression. Then we post our lead guitar parts over the progression, and vote on who's was the best.

I have plenty of well known songs i could put forward, but for this round im opting to go with an obscure favorite. Gagging Order by Radiohead.

For those who dont know the song...

And a lesson by the best in the business of giving guitar tutorials on youtube (especially for a Radiohead fan) Warren Lain. Definently check out his other tutorials for Radiohead songs. They are perfection.

Tab can be seen here: http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/..._order_tab.htm ( this seems to be the closest to the way i play it.)

Alternate way here:http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/...r_ver2_tab.htm

Once you tune your guitar it is a fairly simple (and beautiful) song to play. Enjoy.

I'm going to keep with the Radiohead theme and pick Airbag

Dm6add9/A Aadd9 x4

Aadd9 B11/A
In the next world war

E7sus4/A
In a jackknifed juggernaut

Aadd9
I am born again

Aadd9 B11/A
In the neon sign

E7sus4/A
Scrolling up and down

Aadd9
I am born again

Chorus:
B7 F#m
In an interstellar burst

Esus4 E A
I am back to save the universe

Dm6add9/A Aadd9 x4

Aadd9 B11/A
In a deep deep sleep

E7sus4/A
of the innocent

Aadd9
I am born again

Aadd9 B11/A
In a fast german car

E7sus4/A
I'm amazed that I survived

Aadd9
An airbag saved my life

Repeat chorus x2

B7 F#m
In an interstellar burst

Esus4 E A
I am back to save the universe

I think all this matches up. I just play off of the Ultimate Guitar tab. Thought I'd throw a video or two up there as well.

The song as played by the true professionals:

I like this dudes version.

Also early version of the song which i quite enjoy, and in part learned to play by ear...
