Probably invalidate it, plus you could be violating all kinds of emissions standards as well, depending on what the change did to the ignition computer and how it changed the way it reacts.

How is it negative to say something doesn't work unless it's demonstrated that it does work?

What's negative is people who take advantage of others by selling them plans / parts for a kit that doesn't work.

If you find saying that people taking advantage of the gullibility of humans is wrong is a "superiority complex", then your idea of morality is very different than mine.

Or is conning someone out of their money ok to do by your standards?
