Sigh... someone needs to explain to whoever is responsible for the Abbotsford Heat twitter feed that most 18 year-olds don't play in the AHL.

Maybe they've got some inside info that we're leaning towards a European defenseman who can step right into the Heat lineup.
If we took Rundblad or Erixon I could see us trying to get them to come over and play for Abbotsford. I don't know what their contract situations in Sweden are for next year so that might not be a possibility.

Love the puck shooting up at what looks like a 75 degree angle. That's what we can expect from the Heat--lots of souvenirs into the crowd to take home!

They both play for Skellefteå and their contracts expire after 2010/11 season. I doubt they come over to play in AHL because they get bigger roles next season. They have just 6 d-man under contracts so Rundblad, Erixon and Adam Larsson (one of the top prospects in 2011 draft) should get plenty of ice time.

I like this logo, but on the shoulder patch there should be the Calgary Flames C

In my opinion the flames farm team logo history goes like this.
Saint John Flames > Omaha Aksarben Knights > Abbostford Heat >>>> Quad City Flames.
I for one, like this far and above using an updated version of the Atlanta Logo. Is it somewhat predictable and safe? It sure is. But given the name that was chosen I think it turned out far better than I hoped.
It won't top the Knights logo or Saint John's logo. The knights was a cool tie in to the history of the team and the flames connection. While the Saint John's Dragon was just amazing. Great spin on the name and really it was a dragon... You can't ever go wrong with DRAGONS (cough, cough reign of fire excluded). The Quad City logo was just a rushed job, that should never have been released.

I think the flags are a great temporary measure in order to further cement the concept in people's minds that the Heat are a team of BC and not Alberta (as lame as that sounds; seriously, how can one hate on a flag of their home province?).
I am kind of concerned that the logo may be a potential glimpse into a logo concept for our third jersey though (if so, hopefully one that was rejected). I'm really hoping it's not a Flames wordmark...

I don't think that will be the case.
The company (Domain7) that developed the Heat logo is an Abbotsford based design firm. So it looks like the abbotsford business group went directly to the community. The Flames Third logo will probably be done by bigger guns within Calgary or the Sports market. Possibly a larger corporation that would have ties to their current advertising scheme.

The funny thing, though, is that Saint John just used the Flaming C until half-way through the 2000-2001 season. Until that, the Saint John Flames shoulder logo was this:
If I remember correctly, the dragon logo was done by a firm in New Jersey. It was introduced just before the start of the 2000-01 season, and was the shoulder patch until they had the big Season Ticket drive, which is when it became the primary logo.

I'm actually pretty stoked. I like the name, I like the logo and I like the jerseys. I'm getting the feeling that things are being done right this time.
Go Heat!

Its the Heat's official twitter page. But I can see reasons for your skepticism.

I guess I'm the only one that liked the QC logo...
It just seemed so logical. Unoriginal, sure, but if we were going to have the same name as the big team, why not the same logo? I don't know how you guys can say its so ugly since its just your logo plus a Q.

Those jerseys aren't that bad, they are pretty sick. Could be worse you know...
I was hoping they would use the old school Atlanta Flames logo, don't know why they didn't do that..
My grade: B-

maybe they will use the Altanta "A" for the alternate and Calgary "C" for captain.
