For some weird reason... I like camping in the rain, it keeps the bugs away and keeps the weather cool.

Also an excuse to drink more. Can't be miserable about the weather when you're pissed!!!

10 mm is a centimetre. Stop being a and get camping. I would kil for a centimetre out here. 60% is nothing...unless it hits 70 or 80 percent you have nothing to worry about.

Ok, based on this forecast, would YOU go camping in a tent?

Yes or No?

I think having some good shelter over your head and a campfire crackling beside you in the rain is one of the most awesome things.

Hells yeah! A little shower here and there makes for less bugs and muddier 4x4ing. Plus, constructing the tarps over the campsite is a fun little project that you get to sit in your chair and bask in it's glory afterward with your beer cooler right beside you.

Bring some tarps and lots of zip ties and a pair of side cutters to cut the ties afterward. And clean up the f'ing ties when you leave.

I'm in the same boat (camping in Banff this weekend)
I say we'll be fine since it's not going to be pouring or anything. The only sucky thing is that you may have to set up camp while it's wet and damp, and same for packing up

Absolutely.

Over 20 degrees all weekend + POP only at 40% + rain forcast of up to 1mm on one day and 1-3mm on sunday. I'd say go for it.

It's Alberta, you know that if you get any rain, it's gonna be between 6-9 PM as a little bit of a thundershower, and your days are gonna be sunny and nice.

Yes.

Set up the tent where you can tie up a tarp over it so you stay as dry as possbile and have the camp fire close with cover.

Having the lightning in the background would be awesome at night! Enjoy!!

I'm jealous...

Without a doubt. That's more than acceptable camping weather.

Oh and +1 on having the big blue tarps rippling in the wind. Try to not locate your fire under them though. We don't use zip ties though, we use classy bright yellow poly rope. Great stuff that poly rope.

I see you dont believe in rope, and knots. Why am I not surprised?

Nope. Bungee cords and zip ties. Ropes are for hanging clothes on and pulling trucks out in lieu of a tow strap.

Hey on this note too, what are some of your favorite camp sites? We are looking for somewhere cheap (read: free) to go if possible.

Right now we are thinking about Beaver Flats, but it's $20/night/tent

Default Campground/Hiking etiquette

One more question and I didn't want to start a new thread just for it

When camping, is it ok to be spitting out sunflower and pumpkin seed shells around the campsite? Hiking trails?
I don't want to be a bad person, but safeway had a 2 for 1 sale for Spitz sunflower seeds (seasoned) so I got 2 for the camping trip. Doesn't feel as free to be spitting them into a bag as they are organic and will decompose. On the other hand, I wouldn't throw an orange peel on the trail while hiking, even though it would decompose too. Anyways, just thoughts from CP on sunflower seeds to the camping experience

I'd say on the trail, spit away, but at the campsite, I would spit them into a cup, or the firepit.

Who wants to get a campsite that is covered with someone's discarded sunflower seed shells?

Wouldn't bother me to see sunflower seeds on the ground. Garbage is what really pisses me off.
I think the seeds will attract squirrels and birds. Invite chid camping with you and bring a pellet gun. I hear she likes to kill small animals.
