On the plus side for some of the older ones who are still teenagers their stupidity can be put to good use.

Teenagers are a collection of the worst character traits of society: willfully disobedient, ignorant, self absorbed and self entitled. Get a group of teenagers together and they have a tendancy to be filled with bravado and machismo. Unfortunately, they always want to be validated by the group so if one has the opportunity to act tough in an arena with little to no risk then they usually will.

Of course teenagers are stupid. That's part of being a teen. I'm no genius now, but lord knows as a teen I was even worse.
Daily I get to scream at idiot HS kids that think they can come to my condo complex and sit around getting high in their mother's SUV.
I see HS kids and ask myself "Good god, did I look that ######ed when I was that age?". And even though styles are different now, I know the answer is yes.

So true. Just to qualify I wasn't lucky enough to have an SUV to borrow, we had to smoke weed outside on a bench.

I find piggies stuffing their face as loud as they can with popcorn and slurping on their jumbo sized pops just as, if not more, repulsive than chatty teenagers.

I don't know if I want my army polluted with some of these misfits. This isn't the 50's where you were given a choice of the marines or prison in the hopes that it would straighten them up.
The hallmark of a good professional army is that its based on volunteers that want to be there and do their services, not societies screw ups that need to get their asses kicked.
I am a fan of volunteer labor programs, where students are encouraged to volunteer to provide labor services to communities in need in the summer time. They can work on paving crews, they can build hospitals or plant trees or whatever, and maybe you give the volunteers extra credit to help them get into university.
but the last thing that I want to see is some snot nosed punk being issued a dangerous weapon around other human beings.

I've been lucky. I'd hate to have a movie night (especially now that they're very rare) ruined by little snotnosed punks. almost happened once at the Eau claire cinema, nut management took care of it quite quickly.

Sorry, but we didn't wear jeans meant for 12 year old girls, so there is no way we looked THAT bad.

Well, when I was a teen I know I thought that baggy jeans hanging off my ass, starter jackets, backwards pro back hats and giant headphones were the shizz. True, at least my clothing never restricted my junk, so that's good.
A bit OT, but I was running a skate shop when this whole tight jeans garbage really took hold. Some of my employees had no issue with admitting they were wearing their girlfriends jeans.

My least favorite moment of any movie is the awkward few seconds between previews or right before the movie starts, when it goes completely quiet, and then all you hear is "nom nom nom...sllllluurrrrpppp" x100 people.

Captain I generally agree with pretty much 100% of what you post regarding military matters, that being said however I have to respectfully disagree. First there are plenty of professional armies in which there is mandatory military service and in some cases these countries have some of the best armies in the world (Germany, Israel, Sweden, Finland...). Past that there are plenty of rejects who make their way into the army regardless and there are plenty of guys who I otherwise wouldn't have trusted with an old tin can that have gone through and make solid soldiers because of the training given. Maybe those little buggers wouldn't be a snot nosed punk at the end of basic.... the might be, but you never know.

When I was a teen, I can never remember being disrespectful towards anyone. Despite that, I was still looked at as a regular snot nosed punk teen, and I absolutely hated that. Yeah, going home after school, watching TV and making sure I was focused on my schoolwork is really being an annoying snot nosed punk teen. I'm serious when I say this, I never drank, smoked, or did drugs at all. The only bad thing I ever did was skip school, but I'm sure everyone did that.
To answer the question, no, not all teens are stupid. The few that are, though, give the rest a bad name, which is too bad really.

Just a personal observation story.
Back in the day when I was doing a bit of travelling the most ill-mannered, disrespectful individuals that you would meet on the circuit were the Israelis that had just finished their military service. This was more often a trend rather than the exception.
As I said, just an observation.

I'll second that. I only met a few Israelis just finishing their military service in my travels and I can tell you they were by far the most irreverent and disrepectful of all the different people I met, and I agree, it was more of a trend than the exception.

I'm right there with you. I never drank until after I was 18, never smoked or did drugs and didn't cause any trouble AFAIK.
I think some terrible teens trash society's opinion of the age group.
