He was brain-dead to begin with for pulling over a trucker, then climbing onto the truck, then trying to start a fight. I'm willing to bet he was overweight too.

A lengthy hospital stay full of garden salad and cottage cheese with jello probably helped more than it hurt.

I'm going to guess its an exaggeration.

But who knows most dudes with jacked up trucks tend to downplay their stories, right dude? Dude?

Last week this guy passes me and I am doing 120 already and hes flashing lights and honking and realises he's about to approach the dreaded calf robe bridge (southbound) and must lock up his brakes for 30 ft. Dude pops a tire and crashes over the edge of the slow left hand lane never to be seen again.

Made my day.

The best was the guy that followed me off of the Deerfoot South onto the Anderson Ramp. He was motioning for me to pull over. So I pull over. He gets out and runs up to me truck and jumps up on my steps.....I open my window and he starts trying to punch me.

Okay fellas....I am 6'0 240 and lets say its not wise to make me sweat......anyway I grab his shirt and gun it on the ramp get up to about 65 kms and push him off of the step of my truck. Lesson learned the hard way I guess.

I guess this should be in the cp confessional.
Ummm...something smells in here. I either call bull , or you're just one exciting dude to hang around with.
Since when is the left lane considered the slow lane?

Well, I just had a beer with a buddy and I asked him his take on the double solid. He told me that he once pulled out of a gas station and turned left over a double solid and got hit. The insurance company pinned it on him because it's illegal to turn over a double solid.

I really, really want to be right about this.

Should of hired this guy as your ride along. I'm sure he would have taken care of the arseholes

My friend got a ticket from the cops for turning left over a double solid into a Blockbuster or something unfortunate like that. So... maybe it's illegal? It's at least ticketworthy, apparently.

But seriously, if it's not illegal to turn over a double solid, why do they exist? Job creation for paint manufacturers? I only ever see double solids on streets that are busy, two lane each direction, where turning left is a major disruption to traffic flow. Plus they put gaps in where turning left is either less of an issue or else fairly necessary to alleviate congestion of other collectors in the area.

I'm firmly convinced that they exist for a reason. Their reason is to keep traffic flowing. Not for d-bags to turn into Starbucks or Blockbuster (sorry, Peanut's friend).

Secondary undivided highways, like 22X or HWY40 in Kananaskis for example. Need to differentiate between whom can pass from what side at the given time depending on terrain. Its a safety thing. If side A is safe to pass because they're going down the hill, side B is unsafe to pass as they cannot see over the hill to time what is coming at them. Same for longer, winding corners, especially in the mountains. One direction can often see a lot more than the other direction.

Haha. Well, she was pissed because she didn't know it wasn't allowed. Now she does.

I'm thinking more like 14th st around Kensington. Where st#tloads of SB traffic is trying to get into DT, and some ###### holds up a lane trying to get into the Mohawk.
If double solids are in the city, they're there for a reason.

Continuity? Or perhaps in a place like Kensington it would have more to do with painting down the turning lanes and such. with two lines, its neater and more natural to have one remain straight, and then one bend to the shape of the turn lane regardless of what side its on?

Eff. Tough one for sure.

I'm sure if we put it to city council they'd create some new committee to study it so they could pay themselves for it.

BTW:...do you know how to do drum brakes?

I see your logic, but I don't think that that is the reason. If it were, then why are there breaks in the lines? Why do they stop sometimes by a partially controlled intersection?

I'm with you, I distinctly remember it being hammered into my thick skull during driver's ed that you do NOT turn left over a double line. Besides, they have turning lanes on busy streets, if they don't, you shouldn't be turning.

This bothers me. 120kph is too fast for a "large truck". Current speed limits are ridiculous for modern cars and light trucks, but it doesn't make sense for a heavy vehicle with brutal brakes to be going that fast. Keep that crap in the middle lane and drive reasonably.

While I'm certain these stories are exaggerations, to elicit multiple responses like these you probably drive like some renegade d-bag.

Me. Because I can get a 1700 sq. ft. house for the exact same price as a 1000 sq. ft. condo in where I want to live (far enough away from the deerfoot that even Iran couldn't launch a missile and reach it). The deerfoot will simply be something we'll have to deal with... although we're not looking forward to it.
