I admit I'd never heard of this Island in my life before I looked into this flight deal, I thought it would just be some Mexico style vacation where you just sit on the beach all day. Not really my style. But after hearing that this area is like party central for Europeans I'm very excited!

Ferries only took about 1-2 hrs between Mallorca and Menorca, and same to Ibiza. From Mallorca to Valencia was quite long though...like 6+ hrs. As far as I remember there was a daily ferry, but perhaps only 1. In September season it could be a couple everyday, I can't say for certain.

I'm heading to Spain in July and the closest I'll get to Menorca is Ibiza. Very much looking forward to it.

While it seems rather futile at this point, if anyone notices any cheap flights again around the 19-28, let me know. My sister in law is interested in joining us, but she didn't book fast enough.

If you go to travelocity.com you can still get 21 to 28 (although the return flight on the 28th leaves in the evening, not the morning, which means you don't get back until the 29th)

We should pool everyone into the same hotel here too. See if we can get a discount if we do 30 rooms or something.

I tried to book it but when you get to the end and put in your credit card information it says that the flight is sold out

I just heard that the airline makes you sew purses once they load you on board, and that they steal all your luggage and sell it to gypsies when you land. That's why it's so cheap.
hahahahaha should that be in green text?
Seriously, I'm going to drink my weight in booze during the Toronto-Madrid portion. I still can't believe this price. I'm buying cmyden at least a dozen corona's for sussing this out.

I think we're there at different times (I'm going later), but you can leave some Coronas on ice at your hotel!

Hmmm...not good news...

yep they're outsourced and according to "Austin" the flight will definitely not be honored and they have seen an abundance of bookings and they will all be getting refunds regardless if they originally paid by MC or not.
Seems pretty ed up considering i already have an itinerary

From someone that called Travelocity after booking with Visa instead of MC.

Any thoughts on how I can get my unborn baby a passport so she will be able to travel with us?
The due date is about six weeks before we fly... are we pooched?

I don't think they have the right to do that. They posted a price and they have to honour it once we have ticket numbers. I would assume that all of us have more than just a travelocity or orbitz confirmation number at this point. I have ticket numbers and an itinerary from Spanair. If they cancel this on me, I'll fight it.

For everyone that does have a confirmed flight...
http://www.spanair.com/web/en-gb/Ser...-your-booking/
Enter your 6 digit confirmation code from the e-mail.
Take and save a screenshot.
Might need it for the inevitable 'go to the media' backlash.

Some good links to have prepared...
Q&A: New air passenger rights
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/4267095.stm
Will the rules only apply to EU residents?
No. Although the regulations have been created by the EU, you won't have to live within the EU to benefit.
People flying into the European Union from overseas will also be covered by the new rules, as long as they are travelling on a European airline.

You posted this in the Travel Junkie thread but I thought I'd reply here:

If this falls through, it could end up being a pretty negative viral marketing campaign attracting attention to the new codesharing alliance between Span Air and Air Canada...

Yeah, I think that would be something on our side that would help us. I'm pretty sure AC doesn't want their new alliance to be looked upon as something that claims to offer great deals and then cancels flights on people. We'd have to make sure it got proper media coverage though.
So far at this point, it's just the word of a low ranking Travelocity employee who may or may not have just been trying to get rid of a caller that had booked with Visa.
