I heard somewhere, the Stampede is going to take on a peculiar Christian theme.
Edit: In other news, Eukanuba Super Dogs are getting the boot.

Off topic: Have there ever been any really well-known American bands/singers at the Coke stage?
I've seen a few well known Canadian ones. The experiences weren't particularly great.
Amanda Marshall: 45 minutes late, rained like heck halfway through the show
Nelly Fertado: Also late
Sum 41: Too much of the hippie lettuce smoke blowing in my eyes; I seem to recall a controversy regarding swearing by the lead singer.

Buncha whiners. We have one big party per year and yet it's still cool to bash it. Those crybabies need to go on vacation while the rest of us have our party.

I think it's funny when the "anti-stampede" people come out of the woodwork!! It's all good, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
But don't rain on my parade, because there's a lot of worse things half a million people could be doing. It's something fun to do if you want to do it and that's about it really.
For me, it's a chance to do something I don't get to do often. There's neat things, like the tornado potato for instance! Or the superdogs, the rodeo, the indian village, goofy rides, haunted houses, all kinds of animals, torpedos and tanks, and even get recruited by the RCMP! It's really just simple fun, can cost $15 to get in and you don't really need to pay anything after that (except for $3.50 for a tornado potato that is). But to each their own!

If you were referring to me, I'm not anti-stampede. The only thing I'm against is when a concert is set to begin at 9pm, I don't want to wait 45 extra minutes pressed armpit to armpit with 20,000 other people, getting high off their weed smoke.
Aside from that, I love the Stampede.

I am going Tues Thurs Fri and Sat this week. Probably will hit the grounds once or twice, the rest will be "parties" and bars.

The Stampede is way more than what is at the grounds. In fact, the best parts are not at the grounds.

Dude...You have to start crashing parties...except this year. It seems like a lot have been cancelled including the Doggie Doo Rodeo hopefully it'll return next year.
Does anyone have "the" stampede party spreadsheet? or was it too depressing to put together?

I think Turned the Corner needs to go to the Stampede, have a big fat Fried Coke, go on a few fun rides, and get laid by a cowgirl. He definately sounds down

I think BuzzardsWife has it figured out. I seriously can't understand why people hate festivities. Sure I spend way more money than I plan to when I go to the Stampede. Sure I get way drunker during Stampede week than my liver can handle, but gosh darnit, it's sucha gooda time.
Seriously, who can argue with a 10 day themed party? Half of downtown is converted into beer gardens. FFS! Beer gardens everywhere you turn!! Girls wearing short skirts and tiny shirts! WTF? People complain about this?
Skip the Stampede all you want, but don't leave the city. The whole joint is full of breakfasts, beer gardens and cute chicks! Your complaints are nullified.

Anyone that hates an annual party that much can gladly do a houseswap with me next year for peace, quiet and tranquiity and they can see some fanatastic non festivities in Ottawa.
I'll throw in a Heatley jersey (MRRP $140) to sweeten the deal and heighten the experience.

Food update: pizza on a stick = two thumbs down. Extremely poor attempt at making a calzone... And the stick - why?

I wouldn't waste my holiday days to go to Ottawa, otherwise you'd have yourself a deal.

The best parts about Stampede are usually not on the grounds anyway. Just enjoy all the parties, BBQ's, breakfasts, bar hopping, corporate parties (if you're lucky enough) and craziness downtown. Not to mention all the hotties!
The Coke Stage used to be my reason to go to the grounds, now I can't even agree with most of the acts there anymore.
