Bosh is walking next summer regardless. I think re-signing Marion would be a huge mistake. Save the cap room for someone who isn't on the downside of their career.

Not a bad suggestion. With Bosh/Marion off the books maybe they can take a run at Wade? I dont think he would want to play for the Raps but I guess theres a chance.

Marion is horrible.
The Evans trade has to be a money move, cause it's certainly not a basketball move. He's bad. Kapono is useful.

Can you explain why Kopono is useful? I am not arguing your point but besides 3-pointers how is he useful?

Besides 3-pointers, he's not. Reggie Evans on the other hand is completely useless, especially for 3-pointers.

I think on of the big things that the Raptors have to address is getting worn down by the opposition. The Raptors were ahead after the first quarter 48 times last year (only the Cavs, Celtics and Magic were better in the East). Then it was down hill from there. They ended up 22-14 when up at halftime but 8-33 when trailing at half.
They don’t play physical enough to wear down other teams, nor do they play up-tempo enough all game to tire them out. I think it’s going to be easier to get someone to wreak havoc in the paint rather then get someone to run the floor and score. Or Bosh and Andrea can put on some pounds and start throwing elbows but I don’t think that is going to happen. Hopefully Evans can be a good up-temp engery guy like Pops was at tail end of last year.

Have you ever watched a Raptors game. I kinda doubt it. He is about the most useless piece of crap possible. Travels every single game, can't play defense to save himself and can't make his dumb 3pt shot to boot.
Evans meanwhile has killed the Raps over and over. He is mean, play defense and he REBOUNDS. Quick name another 4/5 on the team with those characteristics?

He had a whopping 4.6 rebounds in 14 minutes a game.
I am not going to argue that Kapono is a hell of a lot better than that, as really it is a dufus for dufus deal in which neither team likely wins at all, but lets not make it out as though Evans is going to come in and be some big contributor.
Just because he is average at things the Raps are terrible at doesn't mean that he is a good player.

Another guy that obviously does not watch the Raptors or Philly for that matter. Philly needed a shooter and the Raptors desperately need what Evans brings. Heck on the main Raptor messageboard there are 25 pages of fans going gaga over the deal. Those of us who watch them faithfully know just how good a deal this is.

Why would Reggie Evans be shooting 3-pointers? What a weird complaint. Philadelphia must have been looking for a shooter and the Raptors were looking for an energy/rebound guy. Decent trade from a Raptors perspective.

That right if we don't agree with you on a deal involving the 9th man on the Sixers and the 6th man on the Raptors it must be because we don't watch the Raptors play.
Sure it fills a need on both teams but if neither guy is very good at filling said need it isn't exaclty a great trade for either team.
Also I can show you threads on HF or Oilfans where Oiler fans talked about how great every single deal the team made over the past 5 years were great it doesn't mean it actually was any good.

I love when I make a point about a player or state something and someone comes right back at me with "You must not ever watch any Raptors games. You don't know anything about basketball. You are a moron." type responses.
I watch a lot more basketball than you do, buddy. So save your condescending remarks for someone else.
I never said Kapono was a good defender. He is good at one thing, and one thing only, and that's making 3-pointers.
There is absolutely nothing outstanding or special about Reggie Evans. He's a fine rebounder, but not as good at rebounding as Kapono is at 3's.
Anyway, I just don't think it's a great move. Evans is not going to come in and be a difference maker, whereas Kapono can be that sometimes.
Bottom line is it's a much better deal for the Sixers than it is for the Raptors.

I'm not even going to to bother with you. You haven't watched Evans play--you don't know what he brings to the game in his 14 minutes. Nor do you know why he is such a good fit for the Raps. If ya watched a few games you would instead of coughing up meaningless stats or positions on the depth chart.

I've watched Evans play. He was a great rebounder and energy bench/defense guy... IN 2005!!!
What does he bring to this team now that you can't find somewhere else, and avoid the one-dimensional deteriorating game that Evans brings.

Yes meaningless stats like showing that he was such a tremendous rebounder that he was the 9th most used guy off the bench?
I don't care if they had good guys in front of him if he was a difference maker he would have played more minutes. It wasn't like Philly were the class of the East last season.
I realize that the Raps are softer than butter inside and have mentioned it plenty of times on this site but that doesn't change because they bring in a 6'6 PF who is mediocre at best when it comes to rebounding and defense and is completely inept at the offensive end.
There are plenty of guys that offer what Evans does available all the time, hence why he was traded for a guy you said was "the most useless piece of crap possible."
But keep countering people's arguments with the ever strong "you don't watch games" comebacks. It really is a very strong position and clearly shows that you know what you are talking about.

Like I said and I'll stick to it you haven't watched the Raptors. Otherwise you would know how freakin useless Kapono has been. A whole lot more than just useless defense which is all you mention. How about the rest of his game? Care to tell us how that was this year? As for his 3pt shot he was ineffective most of the year at that as well.
Evans meanwhile does exactly what the Raps have been sadly lacking. Why on earth was a dufus like PMB so popular? Because he was an Evans wannabe. Aggressive play on a team of wussies. Rebounding on a team where nobody but Marion even bothers. Defense on a team that let's guys just wheel around them.
Vrs a dufus who can't even do what he used to be able to do.
Let's see. Who/what did the GM say he would target and why? And lo and behold trade number one and he adds? Spare me that you are anything but a casual fan of the Raps if you don't know what they need.

Not the one...

Whoop, I got here late.
I am THRILLED with this move. Evans is a badly needed upgrade in a lot of areas, and Kapono is addition by subtraction - in my opinion.
