I pull those hours at my job, that's not that uncommon of thing as it used to be. I'm willing to bet atleast half the professionals on this board pull those kinds of hours.

I post from work from time to time. What does that matter? Sometimes i'm at the office from 7:30 am until 10 pm. You need a break sometime.

Weak argument.

Google is mostly under 35 for a reason. Computers and tech jobs are all relatively new careers. Average age of any company based around then should be in the 25-35 range. I don't see that as confirmation that any generation is better/smarter than the other. They all have slouches, boneheads and the like.

Wow, I hope you are compensated well. I will concede to that.

The rest - I'm surprised, most people I know back home work 40 hour weeks. (and from my experiance working from oil/gas, to utilities) I don't mean 50-60 hrs once in a while, I mean every week; a low end of 50 hrs, up to 70 hrs a week), and I don't mean work 2 weeks, take 1 week off, I mean work 50-60 hrs a week every week, 50 weeks a year.

Yup sounds about right. I have a 40 hour a week job than I probably in vest closer to 45 in and then I worked 20-25 hours consistently at another job.

And that doesn't even include other time I spend investing in my career outside of my actual jobs.

Oh ok, makes sense - 2 jobs. These hours for alot of my friends are for 1 job.

(not to deny that working 2 jobs is easy, cause its not)

So they work a lot of hours, big deal. Maybe they have huge credit card debts to pay off.

Yup - though in my previous career I worked for a small business and 60 hours a week was required consistently. Nature of the beast.

Yeah, I'm lost as to what this argument is supposed to prove.

Exactly - we all make our choices. I don't fault anyone that works 40 hours a week or less, nor anyone that works 60 hours or more. It's just part of the decisions we have to make.

Its not that, its what their work demands. (they also make a ridiculous amount of money for it too)

I think I put in 30 hours last week, does that count?

we are trying to see which poster works the hardest. which is ironic considering its been going on for quite some time in the afternoon on a weekday.

my job is super easy and i get paid really well for it. so i get to post on CP all day to help cure my boredom. i can easily admit that i am super lucky to be in this situation.

Yes they are getting ripped off but, it isn't by me or my children. If you grow your wealth by investments you should know the risks. You should know where your company invests your pension plan and know the risks associated with it. There is no way my children should take it on the chin because of their bad investments. It's not fair.

I know I'm sounding cold and I do have empathy for their situation but, the burden is going to be huge going foreward. The children growing up today are not going to have nearly the opportunities to aquire wealth. For the first time in our nations short history the next generation will be left poorer than the last.
