I'm in my 50s and "cool" has never been important to me. I'm more into functional at reasonable cost. When I got my iPhone a few months ago my daughter basically said, "Dad, cool has never been important to you, but now you're cool." I love the iPhone because I can use it for so many things and it's not hard to learn. I'm not tech minded. I never considered the BB at all. I love the web browsing using free WiFi and some cools apps I have.

Seriously though, overall I'm pretty happy with Mac stuff since I've made the switch. Just because something is popular doesnt mean it isn't good. It does bother me a little bit that because I own a mac i'm now kind of closed off from other brands of mp3 players and whatnot, because there's lots of good products out there.
I don't have an iphone but would consider getting one over a blackberry. The web browsing and additional apps, and the media features...its a pretty amazing device.

I don't like laptops, and would never spend $1,200 on a desktop (cheapest apple desktop system on futureshop). I've used Apples and don't like them. I don't see any benefit for me to change to something new when what I use works fine. I consider myself to be fairly competent. I haven't had a virus for years and the old apple enthusiast argument that Apple's were so much more powerful is now gone since they use the same hardware as PC's. The O/S may be different or better, but based on the cost/learning I see no point.
Re: MP3 players, I'm open to whatever, just haven't shopped around for awhile. I'll consider an iPod when I buy a new one, but that's probably a year away.
Re: iPhone, I don't know a single person that has one. Everyone I know and communicate with has either a BB or a non-smart phone/email phone. I use PINS and Messenger more than I text/phone.

If you guys succeed at getting people to write iPhone instead of IPhone or one of the other incorrect versions, make your next crusade getting people to stop putting an apostrophe where it doesn't belong (such as in iPhone's where it's not possessive).
The iPhone is for grown ups. I love mine and I've been a grown up for more than 35 years now. My wife may tell you a different opinion. The iPhone is great. I use it all the time. I also love being able to come here to the iPhone thread and ask questions. I've never used a BB so can't compare the two, but I would not give my my iPhone.

TBQH I have no idea why 'kids' (I guess I'm not that much older considering I'm 22) need a smartphone. But I guess it's the 'coolness' factor.

I agree actually, i've never really cared about the whole mac vs pc debate anyways, its all about functionality. The main thing that made me go Mac when buying was because i work on a lot of music, so the fact that it has garageband pre-loaded is a good thing. Plus I bought refurbished from apple, so the price wasn't too bad.

Doesn't Wookie sound like a crotchety old man and MoneyGuy a cool hipster? Maybe its just me.
Seriously, though can either the bb or iPhOnE sync with my macbook wirelessly like my bb does through work? Is that what MobileMe is all about?
Does it work okay?

fwiw I switched to mac for the laptop because I was tired of tinkering with my pc. I have to say, over the year I have not had to futz at all with it. that to me made the purchase worthwhile.

Naw, it's not just you. Well, maybe it is. I'm definitely not cool, but there are very few guys my age I know of with an iPhone, a young looking wife and lots of tunes on my iPod. Maybe I am cool! Naw, you just haven't met me yet. I know guys my age who can't even use email or Internet forums.

I chose the BB Storm over the iPhone specifically because I am an anti-Apple bigot, and have had absolutely no complaints. It doesn't have the apps base that the iPhone does, but it does do everything I want, and it does it well. The biggest advantage it has is that the on-screen keyboard is about a million times better than the iPhone.

I have an iPhone & use mobileMe & IMO, it`s awesome! All my contacts, photos & my calendar sync wirelessly, I have never had an issue yet. The only draw back is you have to pay an annual fee of $100...

I love Berrys, so very reliable (except for that miscue on the pearl, but it was more of a consumer phone anyway). Really the #1 brand in the all in one device (phone, e-mail, text, business aps, I mean)
I haven't tried the Storm though, so I can't comment on that.
Although I love my iPod and if I could connect that to my phone and only have one device, I might do that.
So I dunno, probably comes down to personal preference.

I have had my iPhone since August `08 & I love it! There have been a couple times where I had to restore it for whatever reason, but other than that no issues. It`s great for everything, work or play.
One thing though, be careful when traveling. I took my phone with me to NYC last year & had major issues connecting with the 3G networks. There were only a couple providers in the states that had the 3G (at the time) & of course they weren't the ones that Fido connects to so my brand new phone never f'in worked! If you do have issues like this turn off the 3G.

I use my BB MP3 player every day at the gym. Is the iPod that much more superior as an MP3 player? Or do people just not realize that the BB has an MP3 player? Why would you have both? To think of it, why would you have an iPhone and an iPod? Can't the iPhone do everything your iPod can?

Yeah, but if people have 500000000g of music, iPod's can generally hold more.
