Is this true...out of province people actually make the whole Alberta economy work? Meaning Albertans have no part in it?
I'm actually serious...is it so bad that the whole economy would fall apart without the influx of other provinces workers?

Yes. Who in their right might who grew up in Alberta would want to move to Fort Mac. If it wasnt for NFLers Ft Mac wouldnt run.
Because lets face it, compared to NFL, Ft Mac is like paradise.

I think you read mine wrong. I'm not originally from Alberta. I'm here for 20 years to make my money, and than back to beautiful shores of the ocean

I know we're in a recession at the moment, but surely you recall the boom days of the past few years when there were far more jobs than available workers, forcing companies to recruit both outside Alberta and outside Canada.
[Edit]
This was originally published a few years ago, so the numbers have likely changed because of the recession, but you get the idea.
Quote:
Driven largely by the oil and gas reserves of Alberta, the lowest unemployment rates in over 20 years are being experienced. The service sectors are positioned to require many more workers than can be provided locally, with unemployment already at 3.9%.
Workers from all of Canada are migrating to the work boom in Alberta, but more from the international community are still needed. At least 233,000 job vacancies went unfilled during 2005. By 2014, it is projected that 100,000 more jobs will be created than there will be people in Alberta to take.

That's not really hating specifically on Alberta, though -- ex-pat BCers do that no matter where they're living. When I was at university in New Brunswick, the students from BC would always hang out with each other and talk about how much better BC was than the Maritimes. Everyone else just rolled their eyes at them.
