Yup, I never got calls till I put my name on that list. All these US companies have to do is pay like $15 for the list and they have a very nice list of working numbers.
I started getting these last week, 1 per day. The sad part is that this isn't illegal and the RCMP has been quoted as such. I would really like to see some legislation and collaboration with the Canadian telcos to block these guys. There's just been sooo many complaints in AB, BC and ON.

I think they're dialing every combination of 7 digit number...even my dad, whose cell number is known to 4 people, received a call

The past few days I've gotten the good ol' 416-000-#### number on my cell. Went to answer it yesterday, nobody on the other end. Probably picked up my phone too late.
I've never got to use anything good on these telemarketers but my sister left one of them waiting for a good half hour to 45 minutes. Next time one of these telemarketers calls, I'm just going to start up a random conversation with them. If it's a guy, I'll accuse him of hitting on my girlfriend.

I got a call on my cell... weird.
i asked how they got the number, and never got a straight answer, i asked what vehicle is showing the warrenty is up and she said "sir, we do not have access to that information to ensure privacy..."
my car is almost ten years old and the warranty was done years ago

Ok, here's what I don't understand:
I have a cell phone line. In fact it's the ONLY line I've EVER had. I've never had a land-line. Then the DNCL came out. While all my friends where registering and stuff, I didn't bother. Why? Because I've never received a tele-marketing phone call in the 9+ years that I've had my cell phone.
But NOW I'm getting them! Odd. Did Telus Mobility (my provider) sell a list of numbers? Or is this completely by "chance" that I'm getting these calls?
Pissing me off...

There has to be some kind of device that emits a high pitched squeal that you can put on the phone to bust the eardrums of people on the other side of the line in these case.

Hey guys, thought I would chime in on this one since this is in my field of expertise. I am a finance manager at a car dealership and selling extended warranties is a major component of my job. The only person that should ever contact you about your warranty coverage is either a) The selling dealer which you bought the car or b) the manufacturer via snail-mail. That is it, everything else is a scam.
You could however buy a warranty from another dealer however. Say you bought your car from ABC Honda you could by a valid honda warranty from XYZ Honda if you were dissastisfied with your originating dealer or it was more convenient. You could buy a third party warranty from any dealer as long as they are a AMVIC (Alberta motor vehicle Industry council) dealer and AIC (Alberta Insurance Council) regulated dealer.
We do call outs to our customers as well when they are nearing expiration, but becvause of the scam we recommend to any customer that feels uncomfortable about the legitimacy of the call to hang up, look up the dealership number on their own and call us back to assure they are not being scammed.
I have had a few customers that have fallen for the scam, and they have recieved no documentation or receipt as of 6 weeks of making the purchase. On a weird side note however, our warranty business has actually increased since these guys are making our phone ring with inquiries since people are getting a message about their warranty. Their natural instinct is to contact the dealer that sold them the car since they assumed we are the only company that would be in contact with them.
So anyway the best advice is just hang up, and call your original dealer to verify the legitimacy of the call.
Here is a press releases on the matter:

I am in the same boat. I never signed up for the DNCL nor have I received calls previously, however I have been called a few times for this warrenty scam. Seems fishy, very fishy.

I've been getting these every day as well, however I never pick up the phone if I get a call from a number I don't know, so all I get is a voicemail telling me my warranty is up blah blah blah. I wish there was some way to send ALL calls other than from numbers in my address book to go straight to voicemail, but I guess the phone manufacturers and providers are more interested in adding "features" that have nothing to do with actual phone functions instead of making the PHONE part better.

I just had the same phone call come through my cell. I had a great 5 minutes of fun by putting on a super gay voice and basically hitting on the guy on the other line...
######-"so how old is your car"
me-"it's legal baby that's all i care about"
######-"uhhh...ok, what is the make and model of it"
me-"well it's a 2006 mini cooper...but its so roomy...i love it"
######-"yea....uh....those are some good cars...ok, sir whats your postal code"
me-"wow, you're moving fast...but remember...you gotta wine and dine me before you 69 me"
######-"uhhhhhhhhhhh"
