Tying run in scoring position with one out, Morneau and Bay coming up. Not much more you can ask for. Disappointing, but a good effort by the Canadians. The pitching just isn`t there unfortunately.

Bay really battled it out but Morneau's at bat wasn't great.

Oh well.

Anyone else catch the guy in the stands with the Flames jersey during Canada's last at bat?

I was at the game. It was actually great - a lot of fun. Too bad we couldn't hold on. Decent crowd, and a lot of cheering...a lot (don't know if it came through on TV). All in all a lot of fun - good times.

The way Venezuela is pitching right now. Canada should have no trouble with them on Tuesday.

If Canada loses to Italy they shouldn't be allowed to play in the next WBC

They need to beat Italy today and Venezuela tomorrow.

Each round is double elimination. You need to win 2 games before you lose 2 games to advance.

Why is the attendance so bad for this? I would have loved to see Canada verse Italy tonight.

Saving Scott Richmond for Venezuela won't be worth fart if Perkins doesn't settle down in this one. Only gave up one run in that inning, but can't keep walking batters.

Have patience. Italy didn't hit well in the first inning or against Venezuela and they have no bullpen. Canada just has to stay close early. With any luck Perkins will settle down and former Cracker-Cat, Scott Richmond will pitch a gem tomorrow.

I'd yank Perkins now.

As a side, I didn't even notice Australia kicked the crap out of Mexico 17-7 AT Mexico City.

Edit: Here comes Ernie

Idiotic managing leaving Perkins in there for another couple of hits.
