I'm assuming it's a 4 cyl.... when you open the hood you should be able to see the block heater. Look towards the bottom of the engine, middle right. Meaning if you are counting cylinders left to right it should be under the 3rd cylinder. The cord should come towards the front of the car from there.
(I'm making this assumption that if it's there in a 91 Cavalier and a 2002 Cavalier, that a 97 Sunfire will be the same.)

Another old thread bump, I'm on a roll today.
Anyhow, I have a 2008 Silverado and just spent an hour looking for my damn cord. Searched in, out, and under and cannot find it.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Apparently BMW's don't have them, and they say they are not needed. I looked for a while, did some online research, and no dice.
Seems kinda unnatural, I want to take care of the care in the cold, but if the Bavarians say it doesn't need it, who am I to argue.
If anyone else has heard differently I'd like to hear it.

Best advice is to go to your dealer. But if you really wanna find it yourself (assuming that there is one), it'll be attached to either your water pump or your oil pan. If you don't know what either of those things look like, you're just better off going to a dealer. Send your wife and tell her to ask the dealer where the cord is. Chances are they'll just fish it out and string it through the grille for free. It'll take less than 10 minutes and you wont have to get dirty.

Don't have em as far as I know either. My 08 has been outside this whole winter and hasn't failed me yet, even on the worst days.

At the front of the engine bay, on the right.
The cord is likely to be tied up with a zip tie, and if you can't plainly see it, it may even also be zip tied to something else like a hose or part of the frame.
