I think it came about during the Die Hard IV thread or one of the many Michael Bay debates.

Michael Bay can blow crap up better than anyone and Die Hard 4 was silly, mindless fun.

I'll never stray away from that mindset.

I've never seen Die Hard but I like 1 & 3. Michael Bay knows how to blow a special effects budget without spending a minute on developing a rich story or strong acting.

Armageddon sucked because it couldn't decide between being a kick-ass action movie or a sappy love story. It settled for some mediocre action and some vomit-inducing romance. You know you've made a bad movie when the audience is questioning Bruce Willis' manhood.

I still don't know why they hired McG to direct this movie. That just had disaster written all over it. Hopefully the critics are wrong because I'm a huge fan of the Terminator franchise.

Well, as a huge fan of the franchise, I am quite happy with Terminator Salvation. Had everything I wanted. Solid action, great effects, an Arnie appearance, and didn't have the cheeseball one liners that ruined T3.

The character of Marcus Wright was awesome and was really done by Sam Worthington. Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reece was really good too. I thought Christian Bale and John Connor was so-so. There wasn't enough to his character for him to really sink his teeth into. I didn't think Bale needed to be great and he wasn't. He did howver bring some of his grisly Batman voice and that kind of irritated me. He did have a few strong scenes though.

In terms of storyline, I thought they got it bang on. They didn't screw with the integrity of the first two and really didn't have any reference to number three which is a good thing. I'm not gonna get into specifics about what I lied and didn't like because the movie hasn't come out yet........ I could have done without the cliche general of the resistance, played by the very cliche Michael Ironside.......he should have retired after Total Recall.

Overall, I liked it a lot. But I'm biased because of my love for the franchise, so it would have been really hard to disappoint me.

8/10.....Will see it again for sure.....screw the critics, this franchise has never been a story suited for critics, I remember mixed reviews for Terminator 2 when it came out.....so screw them all to hell.....goo see it yourself and you decide!!

Next up on the must see list: Transformers 2.

I just saw the midnight showing here in LV and I thought it was rather weak - the action scenes were solid, and the acting was ok, but the story was boring as hell and there were only about a billion plot holes. I could've written a better story after a 48 hour bender using only crayons on my own body parts.

I'd rank it above T3 but well below T2 or T1, both of which I love. MINOR SPOILER AHEAD - the difference between "McG" (what a tool of a name) and Cameron is that Cameron has the Terminator crushing roses with his foot in ONE memorable close-up, while "McG" crushes everything in sight in countless close-ups. Once is homage, a dozen times shows you have no ideas of your own and are an idiot.

Well, I had another day to think about it and maybe I might have over hyped this movie. I've read some reviews and maybe those reviews helped me take my Terminator glasses off and realize some of the flaws of the movie. There really wasn't enough human element to the characters and the movie and there really wasn't a villain(with a face) that you loved to hate. The first two had it, the third kind of did, this one definitely didn't. Helena Bonham Carter doesn't count as she's barely in the movie.

I still like it a lot, I'm definitely gonna see it again, but maybe not 8/10 good. I'm not sure there are as many plot holes as jammies says there are, but when you're dealing with 2 different timelines, it's going to be hard to wrap up everything in a nice bow. But at the same time, when you're watching a movie about time travel and evil robots, it's easy to let some technicalities go. I'm not gonna stress about the little things, it's really not that big of a deal, and unless it's really glaring and not just something that Terminator geeks would pick up on, I ain't gonna dis-credit this movie. I don't believe any of the plot holes are really that glaring to the point where the movie is crap because of it.

Overall, solid non stop action, best effects of the series, but I would have liked to have seen more John Connor, he was almost a supporting character for the first 2/3rds of the movie.

So, I'll take off my "I love Terminator" glasses and give it a solid 7/10.

Yeah because Cameron invented the slow-mo foot stomping shot.....come on....stop nit picking......but I agree, McG is a ridiculous name. I don't think anyone was expecting a superior movie to the first two, but it did what it should have done, redeem the franchise after the third one left a sour taste in viewer's mouths.

Agree with jammies pretty weak, I know it's part of the terminator series but because it was set post judgement day I didn't want another 'we to save this person during the present because of the ramifications in the past/future' storyline. I was hoping it would focus on the war between humans and machines which it kind of did as a sort of subplot but it wanted more from that area.

Beyond that (which it me was it biggest flaw) the overall acting was OK, the action was good, and some of the shots of a post apocalyptic world where stunning.

My expectations weren't high at all so I'm ok with what i saw. Sam Worthington was entertaining and the larger robots were impressive but i think it still lacked a human element to get you emotionally involved. The development was minimal, and I never really felt scared of Skynet and its Terminators. I think its time to put this franchise to rest.

Of the reviews I have read, the story is supposed to be completely confusing, and even make T3 look genius. Is it really that confusing?

I will take it with a grain of salt and go to enjoy the action stuff, but I won't expect a Star Trek movie I guess, which I had low hopes or, which turned out to be spectacular.

The best part of the movie was the Terminators wearing bandannas when they were just exoskeletons (you might remember that from the one watching guard at the human enslavement camp)....Loved that part!

Other than that, this movie was a huge disappointment for me. 6.5 / 10. And it's only that high because of the bandannas issue and the "Arnie" cameo.

Visually the movie was rather stunning. The action sequences and the overall look and feel of the post-Judgement Day world were quite excellent.

That said, I'd agree with most of the posters regarding the execution of the story and of the character's integrity and "believability." One thing that really bothered me was that there was no "Terminator." Marcus was decent enough, but hardly believable as more than a sub-plot.

Man this thing is just getting hammered. My expectations were so high. I only see about 2 movies per year in the theaters, so I'm not sure I want to waste one of my two appearances on a movie that even terminator fans can't totally get behind. I realize a lot of people like it, but there are too many "meh" ratings out there to ignore in my eyes. I keep flip-flopping, but I think I'm going to have to return to my "not going to see it" position.

Or you could ignore what everyone else is saying and make up your own mind on whether you like it or not
