cool, I am going tonight and it will be my first metallica concert. I am in the restaraunt section a little far away but who complains about free!
I have heard their shows are great so I am pumped to go to this.

I'm back in Edmonton, and a little more able to talk about the show. It was everything I expected, and more. This was the 2nd time I've seen my heroes, and it was great. We were in the second deck (my first time being in the Saddledome) and the seats were fantastic. My only gripe is the drunk idiot in front of me. From falling over the row of seats in front of him, to sleeping for at least half the show, to giving my the finger because I wouldn't pound his fist, he was brutal. I always seem to get the morons in front of me.
Anyways, I was thrilled they played ...And Justice For All. Easily my favorite song from Justice, I couldn't believe they were playing it. Fight Fire With Fire was awesome, and I really have no idea how Lars was able to keep up at his age, LOL. I guess the song was a little rough, but I liked it.
The first two songs they played, both from Death Magnetic, may very well have been the highlight for me.
I gotta say, I really like Calgary. Not that I haven't been there before, but I am not afraid to admit I like the city more that Edmonton. There is just so much more going on, the downtown area actually has construction which you just don't see on anywhere near the same level here.
Overall, great experience, and I can't wait to see them again this Sunday here in E-town.

I thought fight fire with fire was the worst song of the evening musically (I like the song, but it just sounded bad where i was)... seemed like he forgot the words in some parts... It was still great, don't get me wrong, but if I had to choose which song sounded the worst of the bunch, I'd have to say that was it.

A guy in front of me fell a couple rows during The Sword. I didn't think he had a hope in hell of lasting through Lamb of God or Metallica. But he did, what a hero.
I'm surprised more people don't fall. With all the weed being smoked ( how come we can't smoke weed during Flames games????) to the booze mixed in with all the head banging. It was all I could do to keep my balance at times, especially with all the beer spilled around me, and I didn't have a sip of liquor and all the weed I inhaled was second hand (although there was plenty of that).

You know what, maybe that's the reason I can never talk properly after. I don't even scream or sing that much during concerts, so maybe it has something to do with the smoke. Chain smoking during a concert...is it really necessary? I wish security did more to ween it out. You take away cameras, why not cigarette packs?

This was my 1st Metallica concert in 16 years. Needless to say,my throat is bitched and I am still deaf. It was great to see them live again after all these years.
I could of lived without the string of 4 "new" songs, but all in all it was an awesome show.

sure, i agree ... i enjoyed them, but couldnt relate as I didnt know the lyrics or music. i would have been happy to trade them for Battery, Whiskey in the Jar, Am I Evil and Fade to Black.
Although I did like the day that never comes, thought it was a great song.

They are metal, they are a pretty good band actually. I thought they did quite well, they were really tight. Just because you are not a fan of the vocals doesn't mean they don't deserve to be on stage.

well would you pay arena prices to see them? i doubt 18,000 would.
anyhow, the instruments were fine, but the vocals were hair raising. and tight? they were good, but Metallica was tight, Lamb of God hardly in that category.

I find most of the "new" metal that way. Terrible "vocals" with great instruments. It's too bad about the whole cookie monster thing, because I certainly enjoy the rest of it. The vocal thing makes them unlistenable for me.

Just YouTubed them and I'd have to agree. Music sounds good but the vocals kill any chance of me ever becoming a fan.
