I've found that stepping on the tire in the wheel well is an excellent, ergonomic means of avoiding the whole 'jumping, on the hood things. One could get hurt jumping that high in a crowded sidewalk.

Bikes should not be on the sidewalk, unless they are being walked. You don't see me driving my car on the sidewalk......well not since the charges

Well, I never intentionally stop on a crosswalk on purpose. In fact, I do make fun of people who do on purpose (like inch up to it even though the light is clearly red. WTF are you thinking buddy?). But at the same time, I've on rare occasions been caught in that situation by accident (ie. large semi in front of me and I couldn't see), and I do feel dumb every time.

But to be fair, there are idiots and inconsiderate people everywhere, be it driving, walking, or biking.

What bugs me about pedestrians when I'm driving are those idiots who still try to cross when the sign's flashing the don't cross signal. When you're in a busy intersection and trying to make a right before the light turns red, that's your window of opportunity. But of course, there are idiot pedestrians thinking they can just quickly run across and "make the light" before it turns. Thanks for screwing it up for the drivers there buddy.

Amen to that. I can't stand cyclists that think they deserve the benefits of being both a vehicle and a pedestrian (i.e. ride on the sidewalk during rush hour). That probably irks me as much as drivers that don't change lanes when a cyclist is in front. I'm an avid cyclist myself and I treat it as though I'm a car when I'm forced to ride on the street. I've been very close to being hit by drivers that decide it is safe to pass you in the same lane.

I would definitely put my car into gear and slam on the brakes if some @sshat was walking on my hood. People seriously need to take a chill pill, I doubt any of us do this deliberately. I've been caught in situations like 4x4 described a couple of times where a large vehicle in front of you blocks your view of the lights then leaves you a red light as you're spanning the crosswalk. Not like I feel good about it. It happens.
