Well, if you look at her high approval ratings in her home state as proof that she's doing a good job, then you also have to look at the freefall that her approval ratings have taken in the last month (down 14% in late September, before the Couric interviews, the debate, and the results of Troopergate); it's pretty obvious that independent and Democratic voters who had supported her earlier are very upset with the details that have emerged about the Troopergate scandal, about her attempts to block the inquiry, and the far-right tone that her campaign has taken. I think it's very questionable whether she could even successfully run for re-election in Alaska right now.
