It was pure gold. One of my favourite movies. Classic "the dudes" humour, which is the comedy trio that Andy Samberg got his start in.

I believe the other two members, Jorma and Akiva, also work with SNL now, albeit behind the scenes.

And for the record, I love that skit. I laughed my ass off when I saw Samberg doing that, he had his voice absolutely nailed. I think Samberg's priceless, I'm one of the very few(evidently) that thought Hot Rod was gold.

Andy Samberg's impression of Mark was dead on...the voice was perfect. You can hear just how good it is when Mark is telling Jimmy "then I'm gonna tell him 'say hi to your mother for me.'" Samberg said it exactly as Mark did. Great sketch, makes me laugh every time I see it.

Gosh I love having dual tuners and Picture-in-picture. I won't spoil it for those without time-shift though.
The Palin opening was awesome tonight and made up for a bad 3-2 goal in the game. The first sketch was great too.

I didn't find the opening sequence, or the 'Weekend Update' very funny. Palin was boring. She copped out by not really doing anything.
This could have been the TV event of the campaign but wound up being disappointing. For some laughs I'm going to rewatch McCain at the dinner in New York earlier in the week... now that was funny!

Just saw the opening, it had a nice "you don't like us and we don't like you but we're both desperate for attention" awkwardness to it.

Also found this movie pretty hilarious. For the first 10 minutes I was like WTF, then the scene where they were arguing over who likes to party made me laugh my ass off.

Anyone catch the Mark Walberg skit with Andy?
Marky Mark: "Hey, you're Josh Brolin, you were in Goonies right? I produce Entourage. Say hi to your mother for me alright"

Palin seemed very perturbed by the whole thing. I don't think she took too well as to how everything was handled. She was pretty weak.

Haha, why was there a llama in the hallway behind Palin on that first skit? Did they use it in the show later, or was it just a weird random prop?

I have never watched SNL before, only watching it because of the Palin. I don't get their humour. the Macgruber thing was funny the first time but became stupid the following two times. The other skits were horrible. Is it just me?

Watching the rap again... I wonder if the set up was true, which is to say, they wanted Palin to do it but she refused after rehearsing it a few times, because it was too risky.
Her doing that would have been hilarious... but also bad politically.
I have sympathy for her if that's what SNL tried to put her up to... SNL should know better, and could have come up with funny material that wouldn't have been so 'edgy' for the Republican base. Palin had to say no if she was asked to do that.

I don't think the set up was true...I think that's how they intended it to be, that Palin would pretend to opt out and Amy Poehler would do the rap. I feel no sympathy for her though; her appearance was weak, she barely spoke, there wasn't much point of her being on the show.
Mark Whalberg's appearance though...hilarious.
