my recipe for hangover hashbrowns:
heat olive oil in large frying pan
throw in frozen hashbrowns
once they brown throw a can of campbell's condensed mushroon soup on top. don't add water! just open the can and dump the condensed soup mix on top. cream of cheddar works too if you prefer.
Stir.
throw grated cheddar on top
cook for another 2-5 minutes
serve with a glass of grapefruit juice.
this + shower + toothbrush = quickest and tastiest way to cure a hangover.

Here's what I don't get about that cure, (not saying it's wrong or anything) just that it doesn't make sense to me.
If you're throwing a concentrated food down your gut wouldn't it by a process of osmosis draw water out from your body into your gut worsening the dehydration factor?

1. 2 Tylenols/Asperin/etc
2. Gatorade/Powerade, the more the better
3. Tomato Soup - THIS IS ESSENTIAL
After that its really just wait/repeat. Tomato Soup is KEY

I don't know the science behind it but it works extremely well for me. You got me thinking about it and it doesn't appear to make much sense. I looked for a bit of info in the source of all information (wikipedia) and found the following about dehydration:
Quote:
The best treatment for minor dehydration is drinking water and stopping fluid loss. Water is preferable to sport drinks and other commercially-sold rehydration fluids, as the balance of electrolytes they provide may not match the replacement requirements of the individual.[citation needed] To stop fluid loss from vomiting and diarrhea, avoid solid foods and drink only clear liquids. In some cases, eating of salted foods may have a positive impact on the person. However, eating salted foods should come with more intake of a clear liquid.
|
So its my understanding that moderate salt intake when combined with fluid intake is helpful in treating dehydration when further water is being lost through vomiting, diarrhea or urination.
But... I dunno. It works for me and that's all that matters during my hangovers

Water before bed is the right answer...
If I forget that, It's usually gatorade, followed by a Coke or Pepsi, then when I'm up to eating something, Wendy's classic double usually fulfills my grease quota.

I can't believe how easily some of you people say you can prevent or get rid of a hangover. If I have a night where I'm drinking heavy no matter how many glasses of water before bed will help me, or the next day the hangover lasts the whole day no matter what.

planning......drink "light" drinks, ie: Gin and Tonic, low sugar content generally means less of a headache....or Vodka and Gatorade.....we used to do this on rugby tours......get pissed and hydrated.

100%. Best hangover cure in the world, I'm serious. I barely even do it anymore, but if I know I'm in for a s***show(ie Halloween, St. Patty's Day, New Year's Eve, bday, etc), I always make sure I have a little onhand for the next day.
