Go for it. It shouldn't be an issue for a guy who is truly interested in you. It is not ideal, I wouldn't want my girlfriend doing it without a specific financial endgame in sight (i.e. the new car), but it doesn't compromise who you are. It does NOT make you a hooker.

Thank you Icarus. I actually love men,love talking to them..and I don't think this would send me down some sort of slippery slope. That would have already happened. I hated when my ex-boyfriend spent "private time" with his Victoria's Secret catalog collection etc, and that is a good part of what broke us up. It's like there's a fine line and you just know when you cross it. I didn't want to be a huge hypocrite here. The thought of doing this never occurred to me until I met someone who does it,and also saw Spike Lee's movie " Girl 6 " which puts a pretty humorous spin on it although she gets dumped by her boyfriend for being a "phone 'ho"

What are the logistics of this line of work? Do you just set up a number and put an ad in the paper and then answer the phone?

If you have to have any dealings without someone else in "the industry" or you are an "employee" then that will probably not be a good thing. If you are running your own show and you can just pick up the phone and talk dirty for a few minutes and make some money that you need, what the hell, cue up the Poison and cha ching ching cash in!

How much different can it be friom what guys say to me on a daily basis? I've been hearing this crap all my lifeHeck I can be logged onto the CP at the same time.

My guess is that you'll get more than your fill of sad, single, psychotically lonely men in their 40s and 50s. But then--I don't really get the phone sex thing, except to guess that part of is a desperate desire for some kind of human contact, someone to give them some validation and affection even if it's over a phone line, and even (perhaps especially) if in the end it's fake.

What kind of guy talks to some random woman on the street like that? Maybe it's just because I'm so picky about my friends, but I don't know anyone that would act like that around a woman.

Leaving aside the private stuff that goes on in a bedroom... or car... or broom closet at the office... or stairwell at the mall... or outdoor pool... or living room on the phone... or... well, you get the point.

That is very well put. Thank you. I'm sure the experience, should I actually do this, will end up in my stories just like Steve Montador...ooops there's no connection there No seriously they do give "training" and part of it is that some guys just really want to talk, and calling a sex chat line doesn't quite-in their minds anyway- imply the same kind of desperation that going to a shrink would.

Well this is why I'm writing a book of short stories. All this stuff is so perplexing and actually heartbreaking to me. The only way I can make some sense out of it--not that there is any sense--is to write it down and organize it somehow. Of course not all men are like that. I don't look particularly sleazy or anything, in fact I have asked people if I do!! But just walking through the parking lot to get into the BAC can be quite an ordeal. Not always, but enough to be disturbing. Seriously it's worth a book.

Well since I'm not in a committed relationship I wonder why I'm worrying about all this,eh Maybe I should just take care of my financial issues as quickly as possible with this. And it is possible to do it pretty quickly, no pun intended. Yuck I would never do actual physical porn acting. Nothing like leaving photographic evidence of foolishness It's weird how some guys I might consider "wholesome" otherwise aren so taken in by strippers,etc. I think living in SoFl has kind of warped me a little because there is so much here.
