Most people have mentioned the obvious.

San Fran and boston are my personal favourites. New Orleans is differently awesome (but lafayette is a hole), But Not mentioned yet is San Antonio. The riverwalk there is amazing, some great resturants, and the Alamo is surreal.

I haven't been to too many places in the states, Charlotte, Chicago, Atlanta, Jacksonville and some others. All have there ups and downs but my favorite place right now has got to be VEGAS! I went once and now I'm hooked! I gotta go back. x.x

But if you're sticking with things in Boston proper, the best part is that you can get anywhere fast and easily on the T--best public transit system I've had the pleasure of using.

Are you staying downtown?
I am not sure where we'll be staying, but we are going to a game there (hopefully), so it would be cool to stay in that area, if possible. I haven't ever been so I have no idea where the arena is in relation to everything else, or where things are.

After a few days there, we are going to head down to Scituate, MA, which I am told is about twenty or so miles southeast of Boston.

Make sure you check out Cambridge when you're there. That whole area around Harvard is awesome.

I haven't spent much time in most of the cities I have been in, but I really enjoy the following in no particular order....

Seattle
Kansas City
Nashville
Kalispell, MT

Based on very limited experience I found San Francisco and New Orleans to be, for lack of a better description, holes. Nasty places. Totally unappealing.

Wichita sucks ass. Don't come here, you won't miss anything. Have never seen a dumpier city than Wichita.

I am surprised no one said Austin? Austin and Portland are pretty much the same city in different climates. Plus Austin has the greatest music festival and live music scene in the world. However, neither would be high on my places to visit, but both would be top 5 on places to live if that makes any sense.

Dallas? huh I can't stand that place, same with Houston.

The best to Visit no particular order:
NYC, Boston, DC, San Diego, Miami, Chicago, Vegas, SLC, Bay Area

Oooh I forgot Nashville that is a pretty awesome place. My friends look at me crazy when I tell them I would transfer to our Nashville office if it wouldn't hurt my career.

The arena's right on the North Edge of Boston, near Cambridge just off the Charles River. If you stay in Cambridge you might be one stop away on the red line is my guess. I'm new around here, so don't take that as gospel, but the Arena's right off the freeway I take driving into Boston from my house.

Let me guess--you stayed downtown and toured around Old City? That part is pretty nice, actually.

But I lived there for a year--trust me. Philadelphia's a dump. A dump where they've had more than one murder a day for about four years, where the streets are filled with trash in some neighbourhoods, where the infrastructure is falling apart and there are places you don't go even in a car.

When I was in Boston we stayed at the Hyatt right at Logan Intnl... there is a subway track right there and all the hotels at the airport offer free shuttle service to the subway, and it is then a 5min ride to downtown Boston... for my g/f and I it was nice and convenient.

As for the thread, my list would be:

1)San Francisco - Been there 3 times so far in my life, maybe going again this year, and would move there in a second if given the chance. I LOVE this city... my G/f doesn't, which is why I want to take her so she can see how awesome it is (she was 16 last time, and had to drive through it, so I understand her dislike!)

2)Boston - So much to do in this city, so much history, the people are super friendly, LOVE the seafood (Lobster!) and as a sports fan, not much is better than going to Fenway! I would live here too if I had the chance!

3)NYC - Wouldn't live here unless I was making $5+ Mil/year, but would have no problem visiting this city at least once a year. If you are bored in NYC then there is something wrong with you, no matter what time it is.

4)san Diego - Gorgeous weather, gorgeous beaches, great city - 'nuff said.

I haven't been to many but I though LA sucked.

DC is awesome. I have been to Baltimore and I didn't hate it.

I stayed right beside the Ben Franklin bridge I believe. This was about 7 years ago so I'm a little foggy but yeah I think I did spend most my time in the downtown area.

Loved San Diego the times I was there, I go to Seattle and Portland every now and then and try to catch a 'Dub game when I'm there.

Salt Lake actually was a pretty neat town to visit as well.

What's a "'Dub game"? I sincerely hope it's not what I think it is.

Yeah, that part of Philly is great--as long as you stay on the Philly side of the Ben Franklin. (Camden, NJ is not a place you want to go) But you would have been right in the best part of the city--Center City near Old City and the historic districts, which is to be fair very cool.

Places I've been in the States:
Seattle
Spokane
Great Falls
Butte (beautiful town, would love to spend more time there)
Reno (Vegas's ugly stepchild I guess)
Sacramento
San Francisco (worth a visit, slightly overated IMHO)
Oakland
San Jose (lived there for 4 months)
Carmel (went to my dad's wedding there, Clint Eastwood was once the mayor, lol)
Santa Barbara (amazing beach town)
Los Angeles (ugh)
Anaheim
Denver
Chicago
Minneapolis/St.Paul
Detroit
Ann Arbour (not bad at all, wouldn't mind living there)
Buffalo
Hartford (I actually liked that city, visited some family friends there for a couple weeks)
Boston

There are a couple place I really want to goto down south, New Orleans and New York City, wouldn't mind checking out the Carolina's and Atlanta either.
