He told different stories about how he got the scars. Even if one of them was the truth, we don't know which one.

There were a few things about the film that left me wondering:
Will the whole sonar-cell phone trick develop into Brother Eye? We see this in the comics when Batman grows paranoid and begins to spy on everyone that he "trusts". This could twist very well into dark side of these movies.
Is Harvey Dent really dead? I can't remember at the end but do we actually see a coffin? Something tells me this character spent to much time being developed to just get dumped in one movie.

I'm trying to ignore the spoilers, so thanks for the warning in the title...
Question: Should I see Batman Begins before I see this one?
For whatever reason, Batman Begins didn't really catch my interest when it came out, but this sequel sounds pretty cool and I want to see it.

Highlight scene for me: Batman and Joker in an interrogation room. From the moment Batman bashed in Joker's head on the table to Batman exiting to save Rachel, that scene had me totally captivated. Both actors held the scene up so well, and the scene was sooo well scripted. Couldn't have asked for better.

That was the key - not giving him a specific backstory. We don't need to know why he's messed up- its scarier if we don't know.

One question. At Harvey Dent's fund raiser that the Joker interrupts, Batman jumps out of the window to save Rachel. The scene ends with Rachel telling Batman "lets never do that again". What happens to the Joker who is still up in the building with the rest of the party? With no regards to human life you would assume the Joker would have done something to use those people to his advantage, yet they just cut from it as if it never happened.
Or did I just simply black out and completely miss something?
Other then that it was a fantastic movie.

I don't know what happened after that scene either as I was totally expecting him to zip back up the building and take out the business. Before that, why didn't the couple doing the nasty follow him to his trap door exit? Also, what happened to the escaped Chinese money launderer once Joker freed him?

I really wish Heath didn't die, because he probably would have been in the third one, and he played The Joker so unbelievably brilliantly. I never saw Harvey Dent die, they just showed his funeral, whose to say he never died and they just hid him somewhere? Batman survived the fall, why can't Harvey (I know Batman had a titanium/kevlar suit on).
I wonder who the next villain will be? I am very excited because I love the new age of villains Nolan has created. They look creapy and "reaL", all the other batman movies, the villains look like rainbow coloured goons. If they do the Riddler, I think he will look very insane like what the Joker looked like. I don't know the batman comics well enough to know all the villains, but I bet the next one (if they do it) will have some cool villains.

When Joker torched the money, he was sitting on top (I think).

I hope the next person batman fights will be superman. Actually i hope they just do the Dark Knight Returns story line from the comic.
I find the riddler a pretty lame villain. Maybe it's those suits with question marks all over them.
Bane, Harley Quinn as a female joker would be good.
Mr. Zsasz the psychotic serial killer who adds a notch to his body every time he kills someone might be interesting. I doubt Nolan would use him though. It would instantly give the movie an R rating.

oh yes, that's right. I guess he burned with the money.
As for future villians, I thought DeVito played The Penguin pretty well back in the day, though in comparison, every other Batman movie stank. Riddler is too close to the Joker though. Penguin would be somewhat interesting, but who knows?

I think Nolan went on record somewhere saying that the Penguin character would be too hard and unrealistic.....I'll try and find the source...
Me thinks one of Two-Face (not dead), Bane, or Clayface will be the next villain(s). Riddler would be too soon after the Joker, and Catwoman would be a tough one to crack.

Nolan has also said he may not exclusively use baddies from the past - that is - he may just create new villains

I always liked a bad guy named Solomon Grundy. He usually fought with the green lantern though.

It seemed to me that at the end of this one they didn’t set things up for a third one. Gordon’s monolog at the end of the movie made it seem as though Batman was over. Also that bit at the beginning with Scarecrow just made it seem like they where tying up loose ends. Also Gordon smashing the Bat signal is pretty symbolic. Some of said that Nolan has gone on records saying there will be more, which I believe. It would impossible to not make more when the series is so profitable.
While over all I thought the film was outstanding there were some things that I didn’t enjoy. The biggest would probably be that cell phone thing at the end; it was very over the top and fell out of the realm of believability and a poor way to remove Morgan Freeman from the series. Another was the burnt half of Dent’s suit; I know it follows the two face character but come on. I agree with jammies about the explosions not so much on the hospital but more on the two boats, I mean someone had to have looked. Other than that it was a great film, one for the ages. I recall how spectacle when Ledger got the part of the Joker. But honestly I don’t think anyone could have asked for a better performance.

See I don’t think that a Penguin character would be unrealistic at all; there is nothing particularly special about the guy. It’s not as if he has special powers, he is just a short dude with a big nose. He is highly intelligent and a gentleman I think he could work perfectly in the story. During the Dark Knight a lot of the higher up mob bosses where killed/arrested so it’s perfect time for a penguin type character. Personally I could see a Philip Seymour Hoffman playing the part of a stocky Mob boss looking too take over Gotham.

It's funny you say that Hoffman could play him. I suggested his name to my friends if the Penguin actually was in another release, it was mentioned on an entertainment channel when they were debating new baddies for the third movie, and you just mentioned it now.
What a weird consensus to come to, although he would be EXCELLENT in the role, I agree.

Did I miss something here, didn't he type in his name like Bruce told him to and then the program shut down and it looked like it did permanently. Lucious said he would not be part of the company as long as a program like that existed, so when he typed in his name, the program shut down, wouldn't that mean that he would be back?? That's what I got from that part, but maybe I'm totally missing something.
But I agree, the cell phone thing was a bit much.
