WOW. This movie for me is a awesome ensemble crime drama/thriller. So much more than a comic book movie.

Just got back.... holy smokes was that good. TBQH, I preferred the first one (perhaps because it had a simpler storyline), but this is right up there and I bet after a couple more times of watching it, it will definitely grow on me.
One of the most underrated actors in this show is Gary Oldman. Great performance.
Oh... and gotta love the beginning of the opening scene with the Joker and the mob. I lol'ed at that.

Great film. All the performances were brilliant, and even though they jumped right on into it, they really brought forward some of the secondary characters. In particular, Gary Oldman was great as Commissioner Gordon.
Christian Bale was also genius, negotiating three roles at once: Batman, Public Bruce Wayne, and the Real Bruce Wayne.
The real star here, though, is Heath Ledger. Absolutely brilliant performance. Somewhere between Hannibal Lecter and Don Corleone. Hard watching such a great character actor, knowing he's not going to be around to improve and develop his craft. I was a big fan of Brokeback Mountain, largely because of his acting, but it's nearly impossible to imagine this is the same guy who played Ennis. And even though his make-up was smeared throughout the film, you simply couldn't see him, but only the Joker.
Also major credits must go to Christopher Nolan who always knows how to get the best out of his actors, and knows exactly how to use them. Everyone had good screen time and the plot, though breakneck right from go, was well-paced.
See it. Just don't bring your kids if they are under 12.

It was a great movie, but a little overrated when I think about it. All that hype, and I still actually give the edge to the first movie, but as Muta said, this one will grow on me with time. I do think I need to see it at least one more time to fully appreciate it.
I thought Aaron Eckhart's character was the real surprise in this one; by the end, he topped his performance over the Joker's, and that's saying alot.
I thought Heath's performance was great, but not as good as some are making it out to be. He did the best he could with the character, and nailed it down, but I wouldn't put it in the Oscar category. That's a bit of a stretch.
Gary Oldman deserves ALOT of praise; the most underrated character in the whole show.
All in all a great movie with high replay value, but not the best I've ever seen.

Watching the Joker in this movie was downright uncomfortable. So creepy...Ledger nailed it.

it's funny, after watching Heath Ledger here my first thought was that his character was a combination between Hannibal Lecter & Patrick Bateman...(the role that Christian Bale played in American Psycho)

Jeez... and it "only" made $66 million last night...
Awesome movie, and Ledger put in a fantastic performance. I do have to say I liked the first one a bit better though. Simpler, cleaner storyline.
Still, these two movies completely blow away Burton's cartooney take on the series.

I agree with Resolute here.
It was so awesome on so many levels when the trailer for Batman Begins came out in '05. FINALLY, Batman was going to be done right. And the name of the movie itself (Batman Begins) single-handedly disassociated it from Burton's / Schumacher's renditions.
What a breath of fresh air Christopher Nolan is. What an incredible way to revive a series.
It's funny; Hollywood pumps out what they think people would like to see, but when given the chance, movie-goers will support only the movies that they want to see; Batman... done right... is a perfect example.
Somewhere, Joel Schumacher has piles of egg on his face.

I thought Burton's efforts were at least passable. The guy that really pee'd all over the franchise was Joel Schumacher.

Saw it today, and it was absolutely amazing. Can't express how much I loved the movie. Thought all of the characters were played very well, the movie had great tension throughout, and was highly immersing from start to finish. Not only the best superhero movie of all time, but just a damn good movie, period. A must see.

loved this movie, the Joker is so well done. The makeup in this movie should definately win an academy award even if Ledger does not.
For those about to see this movie
I repeat for those about to see this movie
Do not make the same mistake I did:
GO PEE FIRST ! ! !
DO NOT BUY A DRINK FOR THE MOVIE ! ! !
The last half hour was a combination of sheer awesomeness and the need to p!ss like a racehorse, and I don't mean while I run.

True, but even Burton's movies were a little too goofy. Though that is what you tend to get with him, so it was expected.

I'm seeing this movie on Monday and this is what I'm really interested in seeing. There's just soooooo much hype about his performance in this movie, and I'm curious if all the Oscar hype has alot to do with what happened. I'm absolutely dying to see this movie(as everyone else is I'm sure), I dont think I can even wait two days.

I wonder if there's any chance Christopher Nolan can make and fix Star Wars Episodes 1-3 now.

No one can fix that crap! Not sure why they just didn't do a 7,8, 9 instead.
Dark Knight made $66million on opening day the highest ever. On pace for $155million for the weekend, which should surpass Spiderman 3's $151million.
hahaha wow there were a lot of suckers who watched spiderman. hehe

I loved the original joke by Jack Nicholson - he was awesome and people may forget that there was oscar talk about his performance as well.
Heath Ledger though was 180 degrees different and was absolutely creepy in this role. He also deserves the oscar talk.
I loved the movie. My wife was on the edge of her seat creeped out the whole time. I thought Maggie Gyllenhal was also really good in this and a nice replacement over Mrs. Cruise.
great, great flick.
