So I've heard. Is there anywhere I can listen?

I've got to say, Pratt and Taylors tangents in the afternoon drive me crazy. I don't know if I missed the survey, but you can put my vote down for talking more about sports and less about Entourage. I guess soon enough I will get Sirius for Hardcore Sports Radio.

Also, do people respect Pratt less after the whole plagiarism thing at the paper?

If you know the guy isn't really interested in talking to you, I'm sure it is tough to make it seem reasonable. On top of that, Daniel really did come off as an arrogant ass. He didn't know about the contest, gave one word responses, said "I have an assistant who looks after these things" and generally sounded like a tool.

Richards is completely correct to make fun of him for it.

And yes, Pierre McGuire has a regular spot on Wednesday's during the hockey season, as does Adam Proteau (Hockey News guy who is also good). During football season they have Khari Jones and Chris Schultz both on once each week. You might not always like their humour (and I don't really), but they do get quality guests.
Yep I totally agree, As for the interview Daniel was brutual (not sure I have ever heard a person on the radio as bad as him), he had no idea on the contest...

Richards and crew tried to get him to talk without any luck... His answers ... yep... yah...

For example one of the questions Daniel I heard you recently won another championship.... etc. .. response given "yep"....... Then a pause.....

Thanks thats the question...

The answer is much to be desired... Frig Daniel could of expanded it a little... "yah I won the bracelet at the XXX tournament..."

That's got to be the worst interview ever, the guy in the siktilt shirt couldn't have been any more awkward. He looks like he's got parkinson's disease throughout the entire thing...

I'm pretty sure it was a set up (I believe DN has admitted as much), so the guy (besides being an amateur internet "reporter") was probably nervous about pulling it off.

Pierre McGuire is on with Richards as well during hockey season. Every Wednesday morning.

Not sure why Richards would be making a big deal about this - IIRC, he did some mean-spirited ambush interviews of Rita McNeil and Wendy Mesley. I generally like the show, but isn't this the pot calling the kettle black?

To some degree, yes. As I said, Richards isn't for everybody. Sometimes I find him funny, sometimes I just shake my head and think WDF was that? In this case though, I thought Daniel was an ass. If he wasn't prepared to do the interview, just reschedule for a couple hours down the road. Not that big a deal really.

Doesn't always work that way. It sounds easy to just re-schedule and it definitely should be, but some of these athletes/actors/personalities. Some of them are absolute divas and if you have been chasing him for awhile like RIchards said and you finally have him on the phone, you take him. It's just too bad that Negreanu couldn't get it going. Lots of time, we have guests that just woke up, and they sound groggy for the first couple minutes, but once they get going, they are fine.

I never really understood his constant attacks of Rita McNeil. Yeah, I get it, she's fat, but as a pop culture reference, he's about 15-20 years behind in making fun of her.

Like old-fart mentioned, I sometimes find him funny, and sometimes I change the station. I have timed my drive in to work to coincide with his 7:30am interview times, so I can catch Steven Brunt on Mondays and Fridays. I've also enjoyed his regular chats with Greg Powers about golf.

Understand, but (if Richards can be believed) they (Richards) attempted to reschedule to make it easier on Daniel. He said no, let's just do it. It totally came off like this was an inconvenience in his day and he just wanted it over with. Also, the impression I got was Party Poker (of whomever is running this contest) was actually pushing for the interview to happen, not the Fan960 guys for their own interest. Almost like a "paid advertisement" to pimp the contest.

Again, I'm sure there is some blame for Richards here but Daniel definitely came off sounding like the ass to me.

Yikes that was pretty bad. It wasn't the best interview by Richards and Kirkwood. Asking him about that one win was terrible. It reminded me of a Chris Farley's skit.

"Hey, uh, remember that time when you called the next card, and uh, won that, um, hand?"
"yup"
"..um, yah, that was totally awesome, huh?"
"sure was"

That was pretty bush league of Kirkwood. But Daniel was a terrible interviewee. He could have easily elaborated on his answers instead of saying "yah" and "...and that's a fact". What the hell is wrong with him? Has he never been interviewed before? He knew squat about his own promotion. Had almost nothing to say about actual sports and he yawned a couples times in the interview.

Although I would have rather have had Richards and Kirkwood tried to schedule another interview where Daniel isn't still asleep and laugh about the previous interview. But the parody is still pretty funny. Not really a big deal if a radio station pisses off a poker player.

Look at who owns the stations. CTV Globemedia owns The Team stations in Vancouver and Ottawa, which makes it easier for those stations to get McGuire, McKenzie and other TSN personalities on the air. Meanwhile Rogers owns the Fan stations and Rogers Sportsnet doesn't have the calibre of personalities that TSN has.
