Don't forget to also leave a burning bag with a little something in it.

Crash and Bang Winger
|
I just found a wasps next somewhere in my camper van (in the engine compartment area) that hasn't been driven for a couple of years. I want to use it this summer. I have no idea where the nest is but would like to get rid of it. Some of these ideas might work if you can actually find the nest, but how do I get rid of a nest when I can't actually find it? They're flying in and out of a vent between the hood and the windshield but I can't see the nest anywhere. I need to install a new battery but the wasps are interfering with that. Once I get the battery in, I could drive the van around and maybe the wasps would get the idea or the nest might fall out, but until them....

Acquire a wildly unpopular hornet in an attempt to offend them.

1. Purchase new battery and grab your jumper cables
2. Put on your thickest winter gear including balaclava and goggles
3. Bring garden hose (with sprayer), battery and cables to front of truck
4. Open hood
5. if nest is visible, spray the ball of evil until it is dislodged
5a. if nest is not visible, see 8a.
6. connect cables and charge the dead battery
7. go have a (one) beer
8. start truck, toss new battery and the necessary tools to change it into the truck and head to a buddy's place and change the battery while having your second beer.
8a. drive for a really long time, hitting lots of bumps and puddles. Probably best to keep windows rolled up.
9. go home and make sure the nest is sufficiently f'd up. Have another beer. Job well done.

On second thought, you may just want to get decked out in the gear and just spray a can of raid into wherever you see them entering and exiting. If the van is old, some of the rubber things that seal the firewall where wires go through may have deteriorated enough that they could enter the cab of the vehicle. That could really suck.
No saving these buggers. Lethal force is necessary!!

Ughhh Wasps, I hate Wasps.. The best way to scare away wasps (White anglo-saxon protestants) is to try converting them to Catholicism.

for sure, takes no time at all, and you just have to give them a little speech and they fall right into line ))

How can you possibly have any sympathy for these winged, demon spawn bastids? Trust me, they hate you.
Dispose of them, inflicting as much pain as possible.

I have to admit, that made me laugh.

Well, my dad went out with a plastic bag, ripped out the nest, and dumped it in the ravine near our house. He didn't knot the bag, so that way they won't die. But we're keeping the fake nest to make sure they don't come back.

Acquire a nest of giant Japanese hornets, they will scare the wasps away. Afterwards, wait for winter as the gJh's are a lot scarier than wasps.

We had a huge nest under our front steps to the point where we were nervous to use the front door. Tried Raid and such a couple of times with almost no effect as we couldn't hit the actual thing.
On a whim I decided to try the shop vac. I plugged up all their exits, but one, and set the hose right by the last exit. Took about 30 minutes, but I sucked up over 300 of them. Made a little 'thounk' noise each time I got one. Pretty incredible buzzing from the bag when they were all in there.
When I was done, I capped the end of the hose with a plastic bag and left it in the shed for a couple of days for them to 'dry out'.
Two years and none have returned.

Oh nice, so you just left an untied bag of hot death laying around in some random ravine for a curious kid/bottle picker/ravine spelunker to come across. You best check that area for bodies of people with bee allergies for the next few weeks.
