Starting to believe the Ken theory...

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Growing up, my mother didn't believe in wasting a scrap of food, and didn't believe that food could go bad either. "Just cut the green part off that meat, and it'll be totally fine." As a result, I've never gotten food poisoning as an adult. Could be that I have an immune system and digestive tract built of steel. Could be that she's made me totally paranoid about everything I eat.

Pour it in some coffee or tea. If it curdles it's gone bad.

Yesterday night, I had munchies. So I looked for a hotdog in the fridge wrapped in saran wrap. It was pretty old. Mold was growing on it. I rubbed off all the mold under the tap and nuked it. Put it in the bun with ketchip, mustard, and relish.

Why'd you do that... that was the only nutritious part.

Same thing at my home growing up. If my 'mamma' saw us with food left or something left in the glass, there would be hell to pay. I've kept that going into my adult life, and have to throw out almost nothing because of it.

Well, regarding the volume and the rate of warming, keep in mind once you put it back in the fridge the 2L will cool back down faster than the 4L, so it does sort of work itself out.
And yes, I was basing this on room temperature.

City council should implement a ban on leaving milk out. Why won't someone think of dairy products and their rights to be delicious and chilled? It will improve the community because people will only be able to drink forsty chilled milk, which should make everyone happier and more neighborly.

This thread was seriously lacking a Simpsons quote. Fred acknowledged the deficiency.

One time I was watching the new Ripley's Believe It or Not (hosted by Dean Cain of TV's Lois and Clark if memory serves), and there was a guy who intentionally made his food go mouldy before eating it. Dude's fridge was overflowing with rotten food. I don't remember why he did this.
Believe it.
(or, not)

Sorry to bump this one again, but I just thought I'd let you know that I've had the milk two mornings in a row, and two days in a row I feel fine. Glad I had the guts to try it (pun intended).
I think part of the reason is that it is skim milk.... close to zero fat where bacteria forms easier. I think if it was say 2% or homo, it might go bad much faster.

Thats funny I just did this last week exact same skim milk 1 litre. I drank it and it was fine. I would suggest not to go by the date on the carton and just finish is ASAP tho!
