I am pretty sure I can tell the difference between the three. Not that I particularly enjoy any of them.

I grudgingly volunteer to be a research participant.

Far as Kokanee is concerned, this thread (and the guy who says he started a facebook group) is proof that this Live/Die campaign is a homerun.

Not only are we talking about it, the people who aren't talking about it know what we're talking about.

These companies are spending a fortune to get free publicity on the internet. And they got it. I would call this site their "dream demographic".

I personally have no problems with the ad's, and think they are pretty good. There are a whole bunch of other ads out there that are way worse.
I hate kokanee, always have and always will, I will never buy the stuff.

For the other parts of the discussion, I vote the ranger lives. Unless they have a really good idea in the works, this one isn't terrible.

As for beers I drink, domestically my fav is Sleemans cream ale then Sleemans honey. I like the Rickards family, Rickards White was a very nice surprise and quite different. I wholeheartly disagree the Red is just Canadian with food coloring. Maybe at the Dome, yeah, it's ALL herion there.

Imports I like Stella, Dos Equis dark, shoot all sorts from all places, and I never shy away from trying a new one.

I'd rather watch any kokanee ad before watching any Tim Horton's ad.

I know where you're going - create a buzz - make people talk - yaddayadda. But is anyone here any more likely to buy Kokanee than they were before this campaign? If anything, I'm less likely to spend money on their product now. I realize I may be in the minority, but people talking isn't people buying.

Wait... What?

I don't drink Kokanee. I don't really like anything but Guinness and Strongbow. I did, however, take the time to visit their website, watch the different ending videos, even cast a vote. So I guess they're getting their paid-for free publicity, at least.

I'd like to see a blind test.

I mentioned a famous study in other threads where top wine snobs could not tell the difference between cheap/expensive wine in blind tests. They could not even tell the difference between red and white wine. I think people over-estimate their tasting abilities. My theory is that brand loyalty is mostly psychological.

That's the question -- does the advertising work? They usually say it does. This Ranger business certainly increases brand awareness. We all know who the pitchman for Kokanee is right now. Can you say the same thing for the other major brands? The annoying "that's typical" guy shills Canadian I guess.

As for "people talking isn't people buying", that's definitely a conundrum. Especially these online things where they want the "viral" aspect of it to catch on. The talking, and we have seen it right in this thread, is always a bit risky. Sure we're talking about the ad campaign, but we're also talking about how Kokanee "tastes like piss".

I really don't know if this kind of thing works or not. I doubt it. But they think us talking about it is proof that it does.

If you like Rickard's Red, you can get it on draft at the dome now, you just have to know where to look.

How good are Willow Park for getting foreign beers that aren't available in Canada, and how much extra does it cost to have them shgip up a few cases?
