In the trailer it shows the camera following Dion around the net at 33 seconds... it looks really cool, i wonder if it's just for the trailer or if that will be in the game?

Aww, the sports games of the late 90's. Classic. FIFA 98 in particular brings back memories.

One of the community leaders that went to the event in April has now gave his information about NHL 09. Somethings not mentioned yet are here (one thing all of you flames fans that want to make the dome sound like the dome will love):

custom soundtracks....Now lets talk a wee bit about these Custom soundtracks!
With this new feature you will be able to add a song for all defining moments.
weather it be your teams opening song, or your own personal players song for when you score a goal.
Or when your team scores, in between periods, etc.
Did I mention this is for both home and away... Man that's a lot of songs
...............Sweet!!!!
|
the nhl soundtracks are usually good for a couple good tracks from bands id never heard of before, but with how much i play the NHL series i get sick of the same 5 songs being played repeatedly

Wow..I must say that sounds amazingly good...far more additions than what I would've expected, and apparently there's more. This could be the dream hockey game.

if NHL 09 is even half as good as that forum post makes it out to be, i think i will have completely forgiven EA for all their mishaps in the past. they have done wonders with the NHL series since 07

Awesome Joborule, thanks for the heads up. I remember oilersguru and his announcements last year as well.
Things sound like they're really coming together. Custom soundtracks and uploadable replays (finally!!) sound just awesome. The return of the season stat after a goal is scored is also a huge thing for me. I hate scoring a goal and then finding out a few days later that it was a career high goal ... really killed the experience for me.
Still no mention of offline multiplayer seasons This worries me deeply.
Edit: Guess I should have read each post first. Looks like he says he thinks it's in but not 100%.

GOAT!

BE A PRO MODE
In this mode you will take yourself into one of the deepest be a pro mode/ superstar modes ever created!
You will of course be played by you, once drafted/ placed on your team. You will not be in the NHL just yet. You will start off with your teams affiliate in the AHL on the 3rd line. The entire time you will be in a 3rd player camera mode. This mode will teach you how to be in position at all times, as you will be graded well you play, along with some handy arrows telling you where to be.
As you play and get better you big league club will take notice, but if you do not play well they will not. Now lets say you are playing right wing, you were not in position, and it created a turn over... I hope you enjoy watching the game from the bench till you can convince your coach you won't do it again. This will all happen in the bench camera mode. Now lets say you are playing phenomenal in the AHL, and the big club decides to call you up, but you do not perform in the big league's at all, they will send you back down. But what if you were huge and performed at your full potential and exceeded all expectations. You have now moved up to the 2nd line, Now the trade deadline has come around, but the Blackhawks are interested in you. Oh ya they will trade you if the trade is right.
Well going through your career you will be graded on everything you do, so be in position at all times, you will be given feedback from your coach after all shifts, when you are not playing you will get to watch the game from the bench.
If you are starting your Be a pro as a goalie you will be set as the starter in the AHL. with all the same goals and expectations as a forward or a defenseman.
The goal of this mode of course is to get into the Hall of fame.

Wow this is going to be an amazing game. I thought 09 was going to be like a crappy remake of 08 with just the roster updated, but with all those new features, I can't wait until I get the game. Hopefully EA won't disappoint me this time...

The graphics are pretty much the same as 08, but I don't care about the graphics, since they're already good enough. Hopefully, the game play will be alot better than 08.
You gotta love the screenshot of Phaneuf destroying Hemsky.

Also dont blow to much of a load over be a pro mode... its sounds cool but they have had something like that on ea ncaa football.... you take yourself through the high school playoffs and try to get recruited ... then you try to become campus legend etc..... fun for a lil while but its get boring just controlling your own guy and not having much else to do .... i guess it would be a lil more fun being as it tells where to be and you get graded and what not.... but i wasnt that impressed with the campus legend feature ..... but we shall see.... IM not saying dont be excited just dont blow your loads yet
