Hilarious. The cup actually broke away from the base, hence why it was dropped.

I saw him drop it as he was readying to pass it off, then I saw the surprised/shocked/embarrassed look on his face. It was at that point that I realized that he was still holding the cup and only the base fell.

You'd think that somebody would have noticed that the cup wasn't secure on the base before the game... but sometimes those things happen.

Maybe the CFL was in charge of the memorial cup this year. That's unreal.

I've watched that about 10 times now, and the captain's response just does not get old.

Man that was hillarious. I was laughing so hard when it actually happened, and every time I see it I laugh just that much more. Wasn't there a highlight of a Spokane player of the game earlier in the tournament which also broke?

Why were the fans booing? Couldn't they see that the bottom fell off?

With a few minutes left, the dudes with the suits and white gloves carefully lifted the trophy ouf of the protective box. 10 minutes later, the Chiefs were snapping it in half.

Notice how the Captain kisses the base of the cup.

Then notice how that is around the same place where the cup and base separate.

He shall now forever be known as the one with the "Kiss of Death".

I like how on youtube there are 100 videos of the cup breaking and not one of the actual game highlights.

So that clip made "Countdown with Keith Obermann" the other day. Keith mangled the delivery, but I was still laughing my ass off.

What a brilliant moment with the looks on their faces.
