I don't think the forum software allows posts the length it would take to explain it.

I was in there once picking up my laptop and two girls walked in and said they 'wanted to buy 2 Macbook Pros for the office because they can run windows as well, right?'

The older ######tard that works there says 'yes' and walks into the backroom and doesn't reappear so they just left. I couldn't believe it. $4,000+ sale.

Why is an Apple Store any better our locally-owned authorized Apple re-sellers like Westworld and MyMacDealer? They all sell the same products at the same price, right?

...and now, to answer MY own question...

Just got this email from Apple:

The Apple Store, Market Mall, opens its doors at 9:30 a.m., September 27.
Come to the new Apple Store, Market Mall, and bring your curiosity. It's the place to test-drive any Mac, iPod, or iPhone and catch free workshops to learn all the latest tips and tricks. When you get there, find our Concierge in the orange shirt. The Concierge is your guide to everything from checking in for an appointment to instant checkout. And if you're one of the first 1000 visitors, you'll get a free Apple T-shirt.*

Yes!!

Edit: As an aside, I came across this little blurb while Googling for store infos.
Quote:
# West Edmonton Mall - Edmonton (Alberta, Canada) - July 5 - This huge, 5.3 million s.f. complex bills itself as the "world's biggest entertaiment and shopping complex." It's located about 185 miles north of Calgary in the second province from the west coast. It has 800 tenants composed of product retailers, 100 food service outlets, and entertainment venues. The complex includes a full water and amusement park, hotel, aquarium, miniature golf course and iMax theater. Tipsters says lease signed in mid-May 2007. Store will be located in the original, first-phase building, "R" section on Street East, possibly space #2126. Job listings posted Jan. 13, 2008. Grand opening July 5, 2008. How awesome is it that, in order to give directions to find West Ed Mall, they had to use Calgary as a reference point.... instead of... oh I don't know... Edmonton. Haha.

Edit 2: And now to completely over-saturate this thread: Official Clicky!

I wonder where in Market Mall it's going to be? Apple is hilarious, it seems like they don't even want market mall's website to be publicizing the opening. Nothing on the map even says Apple store 4 days before it opens.

EDIT: My guess is across from H & M

Wonder what happened with Chinook? Rent too expensive? Couldn't wait for the new reno's to be completed?

Like I said before - this is great. Goodbye My Mac Dealer!

That is correct. I've got a friend who is working there.

It's still just a freakin' store. It's white, and full of people who annoy the heck out of me. Like said friend.. on Sunday he started dancing every time the new Nano commercial came on TV. Such a freakin' shill..

No kidding, Apple has a great product, but the vast majority of people in the stores are a bunch of pretentious ######s. I'd rather deal with the online store than the those so called geniuses.

^^ Even calling them "Geniuses" makes me shake my head.

Same person in a regular store is called a NERD or a GEEK. Pretentious..

i just bought a macbook ( black ) at an apple store in oklahoma . i bought it because they told me that i could run windows . I needed windows to run one program my office uses , and they would front the money for the mac if i could run the program with it . They told me if i couldnt figure out bootcamp they would help me . I bought a copy of windows and tried to install it and it wouldnt work. I took it to the Genius' and they told me they hadnt been trained in bootcamp and couldnt help me, they couldnt even try touch windows cause the manager disallowed it but i could buy a software called parallels from them for another 100.00 bucks and they guarunteed me that they could work on it for me with that program.

I took it to a official mac re seller or distributor and they took my computer and had it working in 3 hours when i came back to get it ......

Mac Stores are one of the worst things in the world. Only seconded by Starbucks. The "Genius Bar" thing is ridiculous. Reminds me of the milk bar from Kubrick's a Clockwork Orange. The whole store is still some kind of Orwellian propaganda space-compartment of overcommercialzed hype and crass.

I liked the products they had in Edmonton when I went there, seemed like they had more options for cases for the iPhone. That's all I cared about, so other than the huge wait at checkout, it was pretty good.

I was going to stop off Sat morning to pick up a free tshirt on the way to the Dinos game... but I ran out of time.

I'm eager for some details, too!

I heard it was lined up out the door all morning. All for a free t-shirt. I wasn't there, but friends of mine were and they said it was a complete madhouse. They waited in line but didn't get a tshirt.
