It's the goons that work at Cowboys that make it laughable. Last summer I went down there the night before a Blue Rodeo concert to sell my tickets as my Dad came into town so I couldn't go. All of a sudden Mr. Big Cowboy comes to me and starts to swear at me and tells me I can't sell tickets there. I said to him''I can sell tickets wherever I want, I'm on a sidewalk, and if you bug me again I'll try sell your hat, but I don't need 50 cents that bad". He actually started to walk toward me in a threatening manner, but there was a cop there and he told the guy to leave me alone and that I could do whatever I want on the sidewalk. The guy gave me the bird. Really professional and gentlemanly. Big tough cowboy pickin on little 5'2 girl!

Seriously? What a joke that bouncer is... telling you what you can and can't do on a PUBLIC sidewalk. Good for you for giving him the proper lip.

If I said something like that to one of them, I'd get destroyed.

Price-wise, Cowboys isn't even that practical. Beers are no less expensive than a trendy place on 17th, and at least at most of those places you don't have to pay cover. Plus, they just assume you're giving them all your change as a tip, and charge like what - $4-5 for coat check? It's all BS in my books. I have a much better time on 17th, 11th, and elsewhere than Cowboys could offer me these days.

If I have to throw down $6-7 for a bottle of beer, I'll do it in a place that's clean, respectable, has down-to-earth waitresses, and a unique atmosphere. Cowboys never had any of those.

I've seen a decent concert or two there, but the attitude of the staff guarantees they won't see my shadow in that place.

Eh, it's just your perception of the place. I think 17th is full of a bunch of wanna be yuppies, dressed up a little bit, thinking they're better than everyone else. It's like a fancy dress meat market. Guys size up people for how they're dressed, how much money they make, what kind of cars they drive, vs. who's got the bigger arms and tighter sleeves.

Problem is every place has their fill of losers - you just have to get past it and have a good time on your own with your friends. Something I seriously need to do since I'm a little old for those cowboys/roadhouse bars and I just described what I think of 17th ave, leaving me with very little options lol.

If you want honest people and reasonable priced drinks, there's always the Cecil! For an experience to share with your friends, definitely go there for night out.

Doesn't matter what age you are there!

I'll always remember Cowboys for the 1st annual Creep Show!!!

Awesome football game with the Patriots winning on a last second FG to upset The Biggest Show on Turf.

And yet, the game itself was the side entertainment. That live halftime show was AMAZING!!!

Wine. At Humpty's. In Saskatchewan.
