Those are some nice guitars MattyC. Ibanez Artcores are freakishly good value. I wish I still had mine. That Blueshawk looks like a fun axe. Gibson trying to be Fender. That's a discontinued model -- somewhat collectable I think.

Yeah the gibson plays nice....but it really is a BLUEShawk. If you're not a blues guy i wouldn't recommend it. I've been thinking of selling it lately because I play the Ibanez more. But I think I might just need to rediscover the blueshawk a little bit

I actually bought a $60 Glen Burton cutaway acoustic from XS Cargo and it's really awesome as an acoustic. No electronics though. I'm a guy with a $1700 guitar and I think this cheapo acoustic sounds pretty sweet.

Well I was thinking of spending a couple hundred bucks at most, but I have no idea if that's reasonable. Since I would just be learning I don't want to spend too much, at least not yet.

I might take you up on that. I need to do some minor repairs to the guitar as one of the knobs came off....nothing major. MIJ i assume means made in japan?

That's hilarious. Who did you rip off for that? Strings are $5-12!
Takamine's are usually pretty nice guitars. Friend had one with a neck that warped beyond use around the 10th fret (Truss Rod was useless too).

Well I just restarted the learning of guitar, and I've already bought two guitars haha. I got a Fender Squier Strat with an amp from the girl next door for 140 bucks. So I've got electric covered. I've also got a Yamaha F370 TBS acoustic in tobacco sunburst that I probably paid too much for but I liked how it looked and sounded. I think that one set me back about 250 bucks or so.
I've got one more at home that my grandpa was given...They used to own a couple hotels (ever been to the Buffalo in Red Deer or the Windsor in Camrose?) and he was given the guitar in exchange for rent money...it's an electric acoustic and I cannot for the life of me find any markings on it. So I don't really know what it is haha. If I get a picture of it do you suppose you guys might have an idea of what it is?

Some chick on Facebook.. She was moving back home (somewhere east) Sold me her "Broken" guitar and a punching bag for $60.. ( I also had to replace some missing pegs in the bridge)
Its a Jasmine by Takamine... Kinda like a Squier by Fender... Decent for the price though.

It's always been a dream of mine, when I'm older and can afford the proper tools, to build my own guitar from scratch. Would probably have to buy the neck already built, but it seems like a cool project. When my bassist moved away as a present I bout a crappy old bass and sanded it down and custom painted it for him and it gave me the itch. Anyone else share this ambition and/or done it?

Man I have been seriously thinking of doing this in school, working on this with the students.
Has anyone ever done it before? I think this would be a wicked idea and something the kids would really love!
Anyone have experience building a guitar?

This is my baby, not sure how a Greg Bennett Avion AV-6 compares quality wise to the Agile, but it seems similar - Korean made, mahogany and maple, Grover tuners, Duncan pickups (fairly low end though I think)
Based on this guitar, I'd definitely buy another Samick (the company that builds the Greg Bennett line)

Any way I could try yours out?

I would check out Greg Howes Custom Esp
a production guitar that has a Quilt top body, with HxS Hum in bridge, Single in neck, Its like an Ibanez RG565, but quilted.
Also vigier Guitars are excellent
