Yes we singaporeans have a bad habit of adding -LAH to the end of every sentence I've tried very very hard to break that habit.
You must speak Malay then. I don't know any as I was born in Canada and my family speaks Mandarin only. Malay is another language that seems very hard to learn! Tamil is impossible as well!

Yeah, you'll run into people like that, but insight from a different perspective is always good.
So, BuzzardsWife, what do you think of these Man-Geisha's?
I think its Gei-tastic!! Finally another step is taken in the evolution of Male Prostitution offering all of us strapping lads alternative methods for earning an honest days wage!
First it was the Deuce Bigalow films and now Male Geisha's, I for one cant wait to see what comes next!

I wonder where you order in these guys? Is there a website? Or do you just wander the Red Light District in Shinjuku?
I remember getting lost in Shinjuku, and was suddenly approached by a man in a suit who thought I was Japanese and starting talking to me in Japanese. I shrugged, then he said "Ni jiao mei li nu ren ma?" and ignored him. Then he said "You want pretty girl?" before I quickly walked away. Apparently I wandered into the red light district. Interestingly enough, it seems all the pimps there are multilingual lol.

Yeah, we went walking around the Red Light District in Shinjuku as well...The locals were fine and fun to interact with, but there were Arabs guys trying to get us into their stupid sex clubs, and wouldn't take no for an answer. We were inches away from slugging this one guy in the face, but we didn't want to get hauled away to jail. There's so much more to see in Japan than the slammer. Besides, the Mexican jails are much more fun

You think so? You can get ticketed / jailed for chewing gum or littering in Singapore. I'd say that's worse...Besides, at least in Japanese jails you probably get a tatami mat and some fresh fish lol.....In Singapore you'd probably get a good clubbing and a firing squad.

I believe the article said there were clubs where women would go to for them. I don't think you can take them out of the club. Maybe it's kinda like a library. You can read and enjoy while in the library, but you don't get to take one home unless you check it out.

Most of the women doing this are likely "mama-sans" of hostess clubs who have to do something with the money they make off of prostituting their girls - sort of a pleasurable form of money laundering. I doubt that you've got a line of bilingual, well educated C-level execs from corporations chasing after guys from commercial schools from the hinterland of Gunma. Which is what the article implies.

I learned Japanese for the sake of travelling. I always make it a point to learn as much of a native language as I can before I travel there, and I was in Tokyo for 2 weeks in 2006. I went to Japanese because I'm into Japanese anime and music heh.
Japanese isn't bad. Easier than Cantonese or Mandarin. Technically, there are only two tones in Japanese, as opposed to the 7 and 4 in Cantonese and Mandarin. Plus there's only two tenses: past and present. If you know Chinese, Japanese isn't too bad because a lot of the sentence structure is similar. Conjugations are pretty simple, especially if you compare it to French. Then again, maybe it's just simple for me. I have a knack for languages.
|
While I agree it's easier for western tongues due to the lack of inflection, the language is vague, which makes it a bit like an onion - easy to pick up enough to get by, but a real bugger to master.
