Agreed, Gibbons sucks at letting his team play small ball.

Those are the kinds of little things the Jays need to improve on if they want to supplant the Yankees or Red Sox at the top of the AL East.
everybody in the building was expecting the bunt, would have been nice to advance hill. should have been a pretty standard baseball decision really.

Well Scutaro did hit the ball to the right hand side of the infield like he was supposed to, unfortunately he hit it right at the first baseman. Still runner on second and no outs killed the Jays last year and didn't do them many favors last night. Hill not coming up with that grounder by Matsui cleanly was a key play too. Turn the DP there and it's still a 2-2 game.

What was with the Eck play too (just before the hill play)?

He threw the ball to 1B when he was *right beside* the runner going to 2B and I mean right beside.

He should have tagged and tried for the DP, or just tagged. Made the worst play available.

Jays up 5-2, it was 5-0 but they left Burnett in one batter too long as A Rod launches one. If Vernon Wells keeps playing like this, there won't be too many who complain about that huge salary. A home run and some great hustle on another run scored. Rios is hot as well.

That was intense, as always when the Jays try to close out a game in New York.

Grounding into 6 double plays is a concern, especially when all of them came with no outs in the inning.

Overall, good game. Tallet looked great pitching 2 scoreless innings.

Anyone know why the Jays would be playing Scutaro over John McDonald at 3B?

Scutaro's Offense > Johnny Mac
Scutaro's D is worse, but not by a huge margin.

Yeah, but Scutaro's offense isn't better by much either. I thought for sure in the last 2 innings with the slim lead, McDonald would come in as the defensive sub.

McDonald is more of a middle infield guy and I think Scutaro's got a bit more experience playing a corner infield spot. If anything I'd put McDonald in as a defensive sub for Eckstein who's D is average at best.

Big win today. Wells getting off to a good start is pivotal to his season IMO. Nice to see him with big HR and a solid game.

That was a great game. The Jays as a whole looked fantastic I thought. If it was a warmer day outside, Rios and Overbay would have had homers as well and that Wells shot would have been a complete monster.

Nice to see Burnett looking that good as well.

tallet as a big lefty with that slight movement on his fastball has the potential to be scary. that was impressive.

and agreed, accardo was a bit unlucky, that's baseball.
