For those that suggested Radar Love by Golden Earring, you might want to listen to White Lions version.

http://www.last.fm/music/White+Lion/...+1-lVF5ZkG20dQ

If you have never listened to the Heavy Metal soundtrack, a road trip is a great place to do it.

Some excellent songs.

Others I enjoy are:

The Green Manalishi by Judas Priest
Cars - Fear Factory (remake of Gary Numan's song)
Life in the Fast Lane - Eagles
Pretty Vegas - INXS
I Don't Wanna Stop - Ozzy Osbourne
Nothin' But A Good Time - Poison
Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
On The Loose - Saga
The Zoo - Scorpions
Drivin' My Life Away - Eddie Rabbitt
Warning - Green Day
Too Much Time On My Hands - Styx
Da Funk - Daft Punk

If you're lame like me:

Life is a Highway - Tom Cochrane

Runnin' Down a Dream - Tom Petty

Quote:
It was a beautiful day, the sun beat down
I had the radio on, i was drivin’
Trees flew by, me and del were singin’ little runaway
I was flyin’

Chorus:
Yeah runnin’ down a dream
That never would come to me
Workin’ on a mystery, goin’ wherever it leads
Runnin’ down a dream

I felt so good like anything was possible
I hit cruise control and rubbed my eyes
The last three days the rain was un-stoppable
It was always cold, no sunshine

Chorus

I rolled on as the sky grew dark
I put the pedal down to make some time
There’s something good waitin’ down this road
I’m pickin’ up whatever’s mine

I once listened to all nine Mahler symphonies on the way to Kelowna.

WOW

3 pages and none has mentioned the greatest driving song of all time

Highwayman!

I was a highwayman. Along the coach roads I did ride
With sword and pistol by my side
Many a young maid lost her baubles to my trade
Many a soldier shed his lifeblood on my blade
The s hung me in the spring of twenty-five
But I am still alive.

I was a sailor. I was borne upon the tide
And with the sea I did abide.
I sailed a schooner round the Horn to Mexico
I went aloft and furled the mainsail in a blow
And when the yards broke off they said that I got killed
But I am living still.

I was a dam builder across the river deep and wide
Where steel and water did collide
A place called Boulder on the wild Colorado
I slipped and fell into the wet concrete below
They buried me in that great tomb that knows no sound
But I am still around..I'll always be around..and around and around and
around and around

I fly a starship across the Universe divide
And when I reach the other side
I'll find a place to rest my spirit if I can
Perhaps I may become a highwayman again
Or I may simply be a single drop of rain
But I will remain
And I'll be back again, and again and again and again and again..

Once it's dark and you're the only one paying attention, crank out "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". You won't be disappointed.

Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay if they'd put 15 more miles behind her.

They might have split up, they might have capsized, they may have broke deep and took water.

Now all that remains are the faces and the names of the wives and the sons and the daughters.

Probably the best line of poetry in history.
