just curious, since we're talking about dreaming

I haven't had a nightmare in like 10-15 years... do you grow out of them?
I've found that my nightmares are replaced with dreams of me getting p*ssed off at people. They aren't very common at all, and they usually aren't caused by anything that happened the day before that is on my mind before bed. I've woken myself up by yelling at somone in my dream and actually making the sound (sleep yelling). I've also woken up very p*ssed off at people that did absolutely nothing wrong in real life, but angered me in my dream.

I'm not what you call a 'morning person' and these days are especially brutal.

I learned how to control my dreams when I was a kid and had a lot of nightmares. Since then though, I have lost this ability. Now however I do some meditation before I go to sleep sometimes and have used that to experiment with astral projection and dream travel. And a few times I swear it has worked. I have had conversations with a person in my dream and they will tell me later that they had a dream with me in it. When we compare, there are enough coincedences for an eyebrow to be raised.

hmmm

that I find interesting, here's a question, if you were to dream you were talking to me (a person you've never met other than a name on a computer screen) would you be able to tell what I really look like?

Would I be able to tell what you really look like, never having met you?

or would I be talking to a big orange fish, the only thing I really can relate to you, as it's your avatar?

Just curious

You are on the ball with the avatar thing. You would be talking to the person (mostly) as they see themselves. It's usually a close likeness, in my experience anyway. Also the image you know the person (physically and emotionally/spiritually) as plays into it as well as you are interpretting the vision or consciousness.

Note that 'as they see themselves' doesn't mean how they wish to be seen. As many people have bad feelings about themselves as they do good feelings that comes out as well. A good example would be that a bulimic person while although obviously very thin in real life, might appear chuncky or fat in the dream because that's the image of themselves they have.

But your perception of the avatar will come into play too. So it could go both ways.

I've only had it work personally with two people. A girlfriend, and my sister. But several times with both people I was able to finish their dreams, when they told me about it, picking up on details of the dream, not just 'estimating the ending'.

My girlfriend lived in Melbourne, so we practiced this to 'see' each other and be together in between my visits.

And I've really only had success with people. I've tried the whole dream travel thing to try and get into places I couldn't get into or divine knowledge I wouldn't have access too. No luck. Perhaps because people have spirit it makes it possible to come together?

Or we're just crazy freaks who jump to conclusions...

Either way, it's interesting.
