Did you see Omega Man?? Because the so called zombies or infected people, now that was bloody laughable. I didn;t mind the zombies in I am Legend at all. I thought they tried to make them look scary and no, it wasn't all that scary but I thought it was still effective enough. TO say a movie ultimately sucked because of the look of the zombies is a little harsh IMO. Will Smith was great in a very challenging role, the effects and how they made New York look empty was unreal and there was some great scenes of huge tension. The scene where he goes into the wharehouse after his dog and we didn't know what was inside was truly scary.

Missing from this list is Australia, directed by Baz Luhrman and starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman, scheduled to be released 15 August.
Speaking of romantic epics, interesting to see that Leo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet will be reunited in Revolutionary Road.

But Omega Man had a point.

lol, no haven't seen Omega Man but I bet it's ace. For me the goofy make-up zombies from all the old skool zombie flicks - silly as they ultimately look - are still more effective than the ones in I Am Legend because at least they look real. They have to because they're real people. The ones in I Am Legend, as pointed out, look like the mummy from the Mummy.
Why use CGI if you don't have to is my question. The deer, the lions, the zombies - all this time someone had to spend on a computer 'creating' these things when the filmmakers could just as easily have hired the help. No arguments that they did a great job making New York look overgrown. The chaos scenes where the major bridges are taken out were top notch. All of that would not be possible without CGI. But zombies, if you ask me, are just as easy to make with some make-up and some lurching (or running, as is en vogue).
I wanted I Am Legend to be awesome. It wasn't awesome. Because of the zombies. It wasn't the worst movie ever, but I was let down.
Please lord do not let the monster in Cloverfield be Godzilla.

hahaha that was just on last week, I watched most of it, awesome!! Cheese from start to finish. Well of course if they wouldve done it like the cloak and aviators-wearin bad guys in Omega Man it wouldve been laughable. But why couldnt they make em like they were in say, Dawn of the Dead? Obviously a little different, but in the same ballpark. That wouldve been 100 times better than those CGI supervillians they ended up going with IMO

It wouldn't have mattered at all what the Zombies looked like. With that ending the movie would have sucked either way.

Yes good point. In all the talk about CGI I completely forgot about the lacklustre ending. It felt so...unfinished.

Just saw Cloverfield and it was actually pretty good, though I will say the camera work gets a little irritating, as it is shot like The Blair Witch Project.

One Missed Call seems like it will actually end up with a whopping 0% on the TomatoMeter at RT. That's impressively terrible.

I am not surprised. It doesn't seem like it would be a good idea. It just seems like movies are working their way through all the new technology. Killer movies, now killer cell phones and ringtones. Next killer Ipods and Wii's?

I saw Rambo as well last night.
Not a bad "shoot em up" type of film if that is what you are into.
Stallone looks OLD though!

Maybe, you could change the title of the Bond pic as it finally has a title and seems to be a continuation off of Casino Royale which is totally cool.
"Quantam of Solace" is the new title......cant wait for this, watched Casino Royale last night for the first time since opening day and my god, that kicked ass. Even moreso than I remember.

Get ready for Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones. He could be actually older then the treasures that he is searching for.
I HATE that stupid Shia guy. Most annoying guy on film.

To each their own. I think Shia LaBeouf is just awesome. One of my favourite young actors.

Has Shia really done enough to be given that title?? I dont think so. He may be annoying to you, but given some of the so called talent from young actors today, he is near the top of the list IMO.

Has anybody got any news on "World War Z"? I loves me some zombie movies and really enjoyed the book, but imbdb hasn't been updated in forever even though the movie is slated to come out this year.
